ICP Group is looking to hire a Sr Cost Accountant to join our team. The Sr Cost Accountant is responsible for providing comprehensive financial leadership for several operations across the US. The position is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of results and maintenance of the company's assets, through balance sheet integrity and providing a rigorous control environment. Responsibilities include month-end closing, cost accounting, financial reporting, variance analysis, cost savings analysis, internal controls compliance, balance sheet management (including fixed assets), budget analysis and development, capital expenditures, and forecasting.
In this role you will be responsible for the following:
Perform monthly financial close activities including accuracy of manufacturing overhead expenses, overhead allocations, inventory, and cost-of-goods-sold. Ensure accuracy and reliability of general ledger/trial balance for the inventory grouping of accounts;
Audit the Cycle Count Program for the sites ensuring accuracy and proper valuation of site perpetual inventories. Coordinate and assist with physical inventories, as needed;
Ensure accuracy of product costs including Bill of Materials (BOMs), routings, labor rates, etc. ;
Analyze variances to standard cost; i.e.: purchase price, material usage, labor rate and usage and report findings to management team in various report formats;
Work with management to complete financial analysis for various manufacturing investment scenarios, including comparison between different machines, equipment, and processing;
Maintain the standard cost system to generate accurate product costs/inventory values and meaningful variance analysis. Understand the reason for the cost change and obtain authorization for cost changes;
Design and develop plant reporting, analyze manufacturing cost, examine financial and operational data and provide recommendations to the plant and ICP Management;
Participate and lead review discussions with plant management in regularly scheduled meetings;
Put in place a system of controls to safeguard plant assets that reduce the chance of recording incorrect financial information;
Provide assistance to ICP Finance in the development of budgets, manufacturing standards, and financial forecasts;
Review existing and develop new budgeting requirements for the plant;
Conduct profitability analysis, and review results with key plant staff;
Perform month end closing for all BSG plants. Perform account analysis to ensure integrity of financial data as reported in the general ledger and on financial statements;
Review financial data to ensure compliance with accounting rules;
Perform financial analysis and develop strategic and process initiatives with minimal supervision and guidance;
Work with external auditors during financial statement preparation process;
Participate in annual physical inventory.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting;
5+ years of related experience, e.g., Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of $600M in annual revenues;
5-10 years of Manufacturing Inventory Cost Accounting experience required;
Experience working in a multi-state business environment ;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills ;
Personal skills to work together with a big variety of different personalities;
Quick learner of complex ERP system (Sage)
Strong understanding of the General Ledger and its P&L / Balance Sheet movements;
Excellent written and oral communication skills ;
Ability to travel to location across the US .
