Shire Senior Project Controls Analyst in Thousand Oaks, California
Provides analytical support to the Project Management Office under minimal supervision. Supports key project performance including integration of project activities, project resources, financial achievement. Supports Project Managers in organizing workstreams of key processes. Develops and implements new processes requiring cross-functional input. Serves as a champion of Shire Project Management Methodology and associated Project Management Office processes, recognizing how project results seriously impact the overall success of the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provides analytical support to the Project Management Office under minimal supervision.
Supports Project Managers in organizing and maintaining Integrated Project Plans, MS Project work, issue resolutions and communications with workstream members.
Proactively participates in processes and makes recommendations for system refinements within the Project Management Office.
Serves as a consultant for general process improvements, such as system upgrades.
Support Planning Sessions as documentation lead and/or workstream lead.
Participates in the evaluation and feasibility process for potential projects.
Provides clear direction on project requirements to meet expectations of external customers and business stakeholders.
Interacts through program and/or project updates and reviews with all levels of management.
Drives implementation of projects by establishing strategy, schedules, budgets, and financial analysis.
Drives use of Shire’s Project Management Methodology throughout projects.
Approves team deliverables for project completion.
Leads team in risk management approaches and systems.
Responsible for making decisions regarding the appropriate risk when there is substantial project or program impact.
Serves as a champion of Shire’s Project Management Methodology and associated Project Management Office processes, recognizing how project results seriously impact the overall success of the organization.
Recommends, implements, and manages the appropriate program or project structure and standard performance metrics throughout all phases from initiation to scale-up.
Ensures appropriate linkages of this information to the project prioritization and/or portfolio process.
Maximizes business results through continuous improvement in organization's ability to execute projects and programs from initiation to completion and production scale-up.
Human Resource Management
Manages internal teams as well as those at remote locations.
Selects, develops, and manages direct reports, when applicable.
Executes effective management of dual line reporting relationships.
Develops future project management capabilities of direct and indirect reports.
Provides financial analysis and justification for new projects or programs.
Purchases supplies and equipment as needed.
May be cost center manager.
Eliminates or minimizes barriers to progress.
Anticipates potential conflict situations, identifies and acts on proactive solutions.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing.
Must possess strong verbal and communication skills (English). Must have the ability to communicate in all formats including email and verbal, able to summarize large amounts of data and details into a concise message that will drive action
Must be able to effectively utilize typical business tools and systems such as personal computers, word processing / presentation / spreadsheet software, project management tools/databases, email, computerized training, etc.
Must have ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence key stakeholders.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment.
Must be a proactive self-starter, able to thrive in a dynamic and lean environment, and deal creatively with resource constraint issues and uncertainty.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree with 5-8 years of relevant work experience, preferred. Technical (Scientific or Engineering) degrees preferred.
Normal office environment.
May be required to travel for business reasons, e.g. training and meetings.
Must be able to work in controlled or clean room environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in these work environments.
May be around moving equipment and machinery.
While working normal business hours (8 am to 5 pm) is typical, there may be periods when work needs to occur at non-standard times and may exceed 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week.
Will have significant interaction with other people.
Pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
Regular attendance is necessary to perform the essential functions of this job
