Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)-Nurse Anesthesia Program Director is a full-time member of the Mercy College Division of Nursing and graduate faculty, with all the rights and responsibilities of a faculty appointment. The Program Director is responsible to coordinate and provide leadership for all aspects and activities of the DNP-Nurse Anesthesia Program to ensure a quality program that delivers exemplary student outcomes. The DNP-Nurse Anesthesia Program director is responsible for program administration, accreditation, curriculum development, review and assessment, program budget preparation and management, oversight of faculty, collaboration with clinical partners to ensure quality clinical experiences, collaboration with key stakeholders, and student recruitment and retention.
Essential Job Functions
In collaboration with the Academic Dean and faculty colleagues, develops, implements, reviews, revises, curriculum and completes internal and external assessment, and institutional effectiveness processes including but not limited to annual reports and accreditation reports; maintains all necessary components of program accreditation (Council on Accreditation (COA) of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Maintains current knowledge of trends, best practices, and educational methodologies. Serves as a resource and professional model for faculty, staff, and students within the program and a collegial partner to colleagues at the College. Maintains an active practice.
Works with the Assistant Program Director and other faculty to ensure appropriate coordination of the didactic and simulation aspects of the program.
Maintains a teaching workload related to classroom, clinical, and laboratory instruction.
Participates in faculty governance through serving on college and division committees.
Provides primary hiring, orientation, mentoring, and evaluation of DNP-CRNA faculty and support personnel.
Serve as a role model for scholarship in clinical or educational research including evidence-based guidelines, quality improvement, and other projects, and dissemination of results through manuscripts and presentations.
Participate in local, regional, and national specialty organizations to be current on issues that may impact the nurse anesthesia program and practice.
Collaborates with faculty teaching support courses and other support services to ensure quality student outcomes.
Establishes and maintain a community advisory group related to community needs and clinical partnerships.
Assists the clinical coordinator in decisions related to clinical assignments. Establishes and maintains a quality process related to clinical placements. This includes securing appropriate clinical learning opportunities that support student outcomes, ensuring appropriate contracts are in place, and evaluating qualification of preceptors and overall clinical experiences.
Responsible for development, review, and updating DNP-CRNA student handbook and policies contained within.

5 years experience as CRNA: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (required)
