Position Description: The Clinical Director provides leadership and oversight for the delivery of clinical services at St. Josephs Childrens Home. Responsible for planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating the overall clinical program. The Clinical Director provides administrative and clinical supervision to licensed and provisionally licensed therapists, practicum and intern students, and administrative supervision of nursing staff. The position provides psychological consultation across the organization. The Clinical Director is a member of the interdisciplinary Leadership Team and partners with each member to ensure the clinical, residential, and educational functions work seamlessly with one another to ensure the continuity of care for youth. Resident and staff privacy and confidentiality is protected at all times. Minimum necessary access to resident and staff records and information is assigned based on the job duties and responsibilities outlined below. Key Areas of Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Supervision
- a. Provide clinical and administrative supervision, both group and individual, to licensed therapy staff and trainees in the provision of care and services according to professional standards established by state and federal governing authorities, and consistent with facility philosophy of care.
- b. Participate as supervising practitioner on each residents treatment team to ensure continuity of treatment and treatment goals are being met for the client. This may include participating in treatment team meetings, Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, weekly facility meetings, weekly supervision, and other meetings with stakeholders.
- c. Integrate evidence-based practices and interventions into the trauma-informed model of care.
- d. Work collaboratively with the Program Director and other Leadership Team members to ensure that clinically appropriate services are delivered to youth in the program.
- e. Guide the organization in trauma-informed program development and associated interdisciplinary training. Provide in-service training for clinical and non-clinical staff, as needed.
- f. Ensure therapists are compliant with all documentation requirements.
- g. Provide supervision of licensed clinical staff in the delivery of crisis on-call services and appropriate documentation of such.
2. Clinical Practice
- a. Provide a battery of assessments including psychological evaluations and compile information into an Initial Evaluation with recommendations, as needed. Evaluations may include DSM-5 diagnosis, intelligence, and personality testing, as well as recommendations for continuing treatment needs.
- b. Provide individual, group, and family therapy to children, adolescents and families who are clients of St. Josephs Childrens Home, as needed, and complete associated documentation of therapy services.
- c. Participate in a rotation to provide on-call assessment of residents in crisis to assist in management and stabilization.
- d. Participate in training to maintain current Licensure, and to enhance professional development and clinical services provided at St. Josephs Childrens Home.
- e. Display competence and responsiveness to cultural differences in the student and staff population.
3. Management:
- a. Work in collaboration with the Human Resources department in the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of all clinical services staff.
- b. Assure clinical compliance with requirements and expectations set forth by all licensing, accreditation, and payment authorities e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, and all associated agencies of the State of Wyoming.
- c. Administrative supervision of therapy assistant and nursing staff, including performance evaluation of these staff at intervals established by the organization.
- d. Regularly evaluate the competence and performance of all the apy staff at intervals defined by and in the form determined by the organization.
- e. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with applicable laws, and licensing and accreditation standards.
- f. Allocate clinical resources in an efficient and economic manner to enable each youth to attain and maintain the highest attainable level of physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being.
- g. Ensure the provision of quality services to youth through participation in quality improvement activities.
- h. Ensure the mission of St. Josephs, including the spiritual formation of residents, is an integral part of the healing process.
