Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced 2nd shift Production Supervisor. You will report to the Manager of Assembly. In this role as the Production Supervisor, you will own the production for 2nd shift Assembly operations. This role will concentrate on the performance, needs, and execution of the cell (Safety, Quality, People, Delivery, Cost). The role will take a hands-on approach in supervising hourly associates on 2nd, aligning with 1st, 3rd, and 4th shift supervisors regarding goals and priorities, and coordinating with functional support (ME, IE, QE) through any major projects, recoveries, and tactical activities as necessary to align with the strategic business plan month by month.

Onsite: This position will work onsite at our Troy, OH Landing Systems Headquarters. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. E ligible for relocation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with production control to create a week-by-week schedule and assign operators accordingly.

  • Work with QE’s & ME’s to improve processes within the cell in order to improve efficiency/eliminate rework/scrap

  • Work with 1st, 3rd, and 4th shift supervisors on priorities and needs.

  • Establish recovery plans where necessary in enough time to recover daily / weekly misses before they impact the month/quarter.

  • Roll-up, consolidate, speak to overall cell results (control tower ownership)

  • Ensure robust root cause and corrective actions (DAISE) for any major monthly misses (red metrics) at the Cell Control Tower levels.

  • Ensure celebrations of ‘wins’ when Cells perform at the Gold level.

  • Plan and execute Macro Plan activities throughout the year including support of 4x annual Lean Leadership Weeks

  • Create a culture of Accountability, Data (for measurement and decisions), and winning.

People:

  • Responsible for communicating, training, guidance and counsel of hourly associates to ensure the cell actively supports Continuous Improvement strategies, methodologies and philosophies (5S, Flow, Ahead/Behind – visual management, SWIP management, Line Back Logistics, Product / Process Family definition, etc.)

  • Direct the activities of operators, including training, performance appraisals, discipline, safety, communications, and opportunity resolution.

  • Create a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Lean Transformation:

  • Partner with CORE / CI to support the site transformation journey.

  • Support the transformation roadmap.

  • Create cells through product/process family alignment.

  • Transform Cells to flow / pitch / takt

  • Implement Just in Time Materials Management philosophy.

  • Ensure the cell implements and operates ‘daily’ to the 6 principles of Ops Management

  • Standard Work (Time based standard work for all functions)

  • Process Confirmation (validation of completion of standard work)

  • Flow (linkage and flow of processes)

  • Resilience (Man and Material in required quantities, SWIP: WIP)

  • Winning vs. Losing (constant visibility of performance to plan)

  • Closed Loop Systems (corrective actions for all losses)

  • Results

  • Determine / monitor / improve KPI’s from CT’s and PDPR

  • Roll up metrics from all ongoing cell projects within the VS.

Positively affect KPI change, including, but not limited to:

  • Inventory (WIP)(SWIP to WIP ratio approaching 1)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and a minimum of 2 years prior relevant experience with specialized knowledge of technical or operational practices or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

  • 2+ years of experience in Operations related Management roles (hands on supervision).

  • Experience with technical knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining/special processing/assembly).

  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams.

  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office- Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP knowledge

  • Lean Manufacturing experience

  • Direct working experience of the Troy W&B Site / Products.

  • Aerospace work environment experience.

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
