The Electrical Engineering Co-op Student provides electronics hardware design and/or softwaresupport in the development of new components and products. They may also be involved in supporting performance improvement projects , reliability and reducing cost of existing components and products. This individual will translate high level design concepts from our design engineers and new product development teams into detailed part specifications and take the lead in documentation and testing. Through this work the student will have the opportunity to get hands on experience and coaching to motor control design principles and applications.
In this role, the Co-op Student will:
Assist engineers with design activities for embedded control products
Work with software and electrical engineering to setup and execute test plans to confirm proper system operation
Assist with process development in either hardware or firmware systems
Perform circuit design troubleshooting and root cause analysis of issues during testing and reported from the field
Work with various test equipment including meters, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
Support sensor development, firmware programming, data acquisition, and testing
Participate in Application development, connectivity protocols, data transmission, storage, and security for connected products
Write firmware for application and test programs in C /C++or Labview (firmware emphasis)
Assist in Regulatory testing (UL & CE)
Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for learning about and using electrical design tools to develop new designs and optimize those that already exist. Good listening, communication and technical comprehension skills are required to develop successful designs in a team environment.
Currently pursuing a Bachelors in Electrical, Computer Science or a relevant Engineering.
Good verbal and written communication skills amongst global and cross functional teams, with a high attention to details.
Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Self-directed work ethic. A positive, can-do, whatever-it-takes attitude.
Ability to create specific action plans, prioritize time and resources effectively.
Advanced relationship and team building skills with high level of integrity and energy.
GPA of 3.0 or above
Experience with a higher-level programming language (e.g. C#, C++, Java, Python)
Soldering experience is highly preferred.
Reading schematics is highly preferred
Travel: No travel required
