The Boeing Company is currently seeking applicants for two Mid-Level Environmental Engineers to join their team in Renton, WA; Tukwila, WA; Kent, WA; or Seattle, WA . One position will support and act as the Hazardous Waste Focal and the other will support and act as the Industrial Wastewater Focal.

As a hazardous waste focal, the employee will work with a team of environmental engineers to identify, designate, profile, and coordinate disposal of hazardous wastes across multiple sites. As an industrial wastewater focal, the employee will be responsible for the implementation of an industrial wastewater permit at one or more sites located across Renton, Tukwila, Kent, and Seattle.

The Boeing Environmental Management team works across multiple environmental subject areas (for example, air quality, stormwater, hazardous waste, solid waste, industrial wastewater, spill prevention, and underground storage tanks), and supports conservation/sustainability initiatives in addition to regulatory compliance. The position will involve some local travel as the team supports several sites in the central Puget Sound area.

Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Hazardous Waste Focal

  • Conduct waste designation determinations and coordinate with treatment, storage, and disposal vendor for profiling, and waste disposal

  • Coordinate with site employees, contractors, and regulators to drive regulatory compliance across multiple sites, including federal and Washington State-specific regulations

  • Review projects and new chemicals for impact on the hazardous waste program

  • Review hazardous waste generation processes for waste reduction opportunities; share opportunities with hazardous waste team; implement waste reduction projects where appropriate

  • Industrial Wastewater Focal

  • Drive regulatory compliance for industrial wastewater permit, often interacting with site employees, contractors, and regulators on programs and processes impacted by the permit and regulatory requirements

  • Review projects and chemicals that may impact or be disposed of via the industrial wastewater system and facilitate any crucial changes/regulatory approval where appropriate

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options .

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3+ years of experience in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)

  • 3+ years of experience with environmental engineering or environmental science over multiple media types (chemical, air, waste water, stormwater, hazardous waste etc.)

  • 3+ years of experience with environmental compliance and/or environmental programs, spill procedures and water quality

  • Local travel 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Aerospace environmental compliance experience

Typical Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $96,050 - $129,950
