Navistar, Inc. HVAC Technician in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Position Overview

This is open for Contractor Conversions Only.

Responsibilities

Read and follow written and verbal work instructions and standard operating procedures with emphasis on safety and quality inclusive of:

  • Receiving and managing time sensitive work order assignments

  • Reading electrical diagrams and blueprints and repairing heating and cooling systems

  • Troubleshooting and repairing production and non-production machines and equipment

  • Troubleshooting and repairing motor control and drive systems, heating and cooling equipment, industrial control systems, and lighting and electrical systems

  • Interfacing with and utilizing Building Automation Systems on BACnet or LON

  • Performing metal fabrication and some welding

  • Driving lift equipment and can work at heights up to 45’

  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • At least three years of HVAC commercial or industrial maintenance experience

  • Must have active HVAC Journeyman license or greater in Oklahoma

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

  • Physical Requirements (Ability to do the following up to 10 hours per day):

  • Walk, stand, sit, bend, twist/turn, kneel, squat, crawl

  • Climb using both legs and arms

  • Head/neck movement

  • Reach outward or above the shoulder

  • Drive or operate equipment such as lifts and/or motor vehicles

  • Lift, carry, push, or pull 15-45 pounds

  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers, both hands

  • Use of vibrating tools

  • Depth perceptions required

  • Ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of color

  • Exposure to constant and intermittent noise, fumes, smoke and gases, solvents, paint, grease and oils, radiant energy, and slippery surfaces

  • Must have organization skills and effective communication skills with both technical and professional staff

  • Must be able to observe/troubleshoot needed repairs of all types of manufacturing machines and equipment to include paint automation equipment

  • Ability to work efficiently and with a sense of urgency

  • Ability to demonstrate overall safe work behavior, including the utilization of proper safety equipment and adhering to safety guidelines

  • This position is safety sensitive and may involve the operation of vehicles, operation of equipment, and/or involve work with power tools, or handling of hazardous materials, that could result in injury or damage to person/property/manufacturing process

Desired Skills

  • Prefer three years’ experience in troubleshooting, installing, and repairing: PLCs, Metal fabrication equipment, Building Automation Systems, and/or Ethernet IP Network Systems

  • Experience using Microsoft Office

  • Possess a basic working knowledge and understanding of industrial electrical systems with the ability to use a Volt/Ohm Meter

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, ability to disassemble and reassemble using proper equipment

  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components

  • Advanced knowledge of industrial safety requirements related to hazardous, flammable, and explosive materials and environments

  • Advanced knowledge of preventive maintenance

  • Ability to work any shift including on-call and rotational weekend overtime
