JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State Office of Student Aid is seeking a Financial Aid Coordinator. The individual in this position is responsible for developing and maintaining a strong working knowledge of all federal, state, and University student aid regulations, policies, and procedures and contributing to the analysis of these regulations.

The work of this position impacts Penn State’s approval to participate in Federal and State Student Aid programs which comprise the majority of the $1.2B in student aid funding at the University. The individual in this position is responsible for processing and troubleshooting issues of federal, state, and university aid programs to include grants, scholarships, work-study, and federal and alternative loan programs. They will assist with the coordination of the Federal Direct Loan program including, but not limited to, awarding and troubleshooting of Direct Loan Awards, transfer student monitoring, aggregate loan review, default review and prevention. This position involves reviewing and monitoring reports to adjust or correct federal, state, and institutional aid, and communicating with federal and state agencies. This role touches multiple programs, processes, policies, and regulations needed in the effective administration of Student Aid. This position will report to the Director of Federal and State Programs within the Office of Student Aid.

The successful applicant will develop and maintain expertise in federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies. They will also need to establish and maintain strong working relationships with, and functional knowledge of other University administrative units, such as the Office of the Bursar, Office of the Registrar, and Student Financial Services to resolve issues that impact the administration and delivery of student aid. The Financial Aid Coordinator will also provide financial aid counseling to students and parents regarding all aspects of the financial aid process and eligibility requirements for federal, state, and institutional student aid programs via email, in-person interactions, and virtual presentations and discussions.

Education and Experience:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires moderate-level knowledge of complex federal, state, and University aid regulations, policies, and procedures. Also requires working knowledge of Zoom and Microsoft PowerPoint.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$46,400.00 - $67,300.00
