Job Title: Civil EngineerJob Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for site development, stormwater management design, site grading, erosion and sediment control, and utility planning from project inception through construction. This is a high-visibility, challenging position with significant growth opportunities. Experience with site permitting in Maryland is a requirement, and public project experience, including K-12 and Higher Education, is preferred. Responsibilities
Manage design, permitting, and construction services for assigned projects efficiently and responsibly.
Sign and seal drawings with PE stamp for assigned projects when authorized by the principal/team leader or supervisor.
Maintain positive client relationships on a regular basis.
Participate in adopting and improving design standards to enhance our practice.
Estimate additional work fees/scope and alert Team Leader of Scope Creep issues.
Complete site designs, perform hydrology calculations, and design stormwater management, grading, and drainage plans.
Prepare detailed utility plans for water and sewer infrastructure development.
Maintain a working knowledge of Sustainable Site requirements for LEED Certification on projects.
Perform hydraulic and hydrologic stormwater management design.
Design sediment trapping facilities that are required to be hydraulically routed.
Prepare Bond and Cost Estimates.
Review shop drawings and provide timely responses to questions/clarifications.
Ensure that quality control procedures are maintained.
Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and government agencies.
Attend progress meetings for projects.
Direct drafters and assist engineers working on your projects.
Help team leader supervise others when the team leader is absent.
Motivate staff working on your projects and maintain a good rapport with all levels of staff members.
Demonstrate leadership abilities with the project team.
Manage the production staff working on your projects to communicate effectively to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.
Essential Skills
At least 4 years of experience in land development, stormwater management, sediment control, and grading.
At least 3 years of experience designing with Civil 3D.
Experience with site permitting in Maryland.
Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field (preferred, not required).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with public projects, including K-12 and Higher Education.
Experience in PG County is a huge plus.
Project Management skills.
Ability to sign and seal drawings with PE stamp.
Maintain positive client relationships and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and government agencies.
Knowledge of Sustainable Site requirements for LEED Certification.
Work Environment
The work environment is an office pit that is highly collaborative between disciplines. The role offers a hybrid work schedule and significant growth opportunities. Candidates can sit out of Laurel or Frederick, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $65.00/hr.
