Office of the Chancellor
The Office of the Chancellor is now accepting applications for an
Associate Director of Communications in Arts Integration who will be
responsible for the development and implementation of communication and
marketing strategies that establish and amplify the activities of the
Office for Arts Integration across multiple platforms. The Associate
Director will also coordinate marketing events, website design and
management, social media management, as well as digital and print
material creation and impact analysis.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Communications Planning and Implementation
- Write about the arts in colorful and succinct language.
- Identify subject areas and imaginatively tell the stories of those
areas.
- Write press releases and feature articles; maintain relationships
with key individuals in selected news media; maintain a
comprehensive and up to date database of news media, contacts, etc.
- Create a distinct visual presence and identity for the office.
- Connect with like communications colleagues at peer institutions.
- Work with campus website team to design the website for the office.
- Manage content for the office sites and keep them up to date.
- Monitor brand to ensure visual unity and consistency in messaging
while adhering to The Chicago Manual of Style and University brand
guidelines.
Programmatic Design
- Serve as a member of core team think tank and generate ideas for
promotion of the office programs, activities, and areas for growth.
- Bring creative thinking to the promotion of arts integration
efforts - must be able to speak to the specific creative energies of
our various target communities.
- Maintain the visibility of office programs and the faculty, staff,
students, and community members and organizations with which we will
collaborate and engage.
- Articulate programmatic vision - draft, revise, review, program
plans and dissemination plan with the team.
Public Relations
- Help build the audience and maintain mailing list for the office as
it grows.
- Create an ongoing method to communicate with audiences and partners
through regular electronic means.
- Serve as primary contact for media inquiries and other public
relations matters.
- Maintain the visibility of the office programs with stories on
faculty, staff, students and community members and organizations
with which we will collaborate and engage.
- Track participation metrics to help the office clarify and identify
our target audience, and collaboratively evaluate the reach of the
program.
- Educate and expand interest in the arts across communities through
digital and print materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor\'s degree in marketing, business administration,
communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
- One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in
marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a
related professional area.
- Demonstrated experience in an arts/creative field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years\' experience in an arts/creative field.
- Demonstrated experience in an academic area related to arts
research/critique, marketing, public relations, communications,
brand management, or related creative area.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the arts landscape in the community/state/nation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively and independently as well as part of a team.
Demonstrated ex erience with web and social media content creation.
Ability to perform efficiently with a professional demeanor in a diverse
work environment under flexible and often changing deadlines and
landscapes.
Ability to work in high pressure academic environment and with patience
and compassion in other community environments -i.e. with students in
their spaces, community spaces outside of campus.
Must have knowledge skills/ability in the arts arena; Demonstrated
creativity.
Must work well with people from a variety of cultural, disciplinary, and
creative backgrounds.
Must have familiarity and proficiency with current communication
technologies, software, and social media arenas.
Proficiency with commonly employed software and databases, including
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.
Candidates must be self-motivated and bring their own creative and
generative approach to communication dissemination to the team.
Must have demonstrated cultural competency with a variety of communities
from which to draw on.
Must be capable of identifying individuals in arts and arts supportive
fields to create new content featuring these groups/individuals.
