Coordinator- University Laboratory High School
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is accepting applications
for an Operations Coordinator for the University Laboratory High School.
In addition to providing strategic leadership, finance functions, and
human resource administration, the Operations Coordinator will manage
the day-to-day operations, personnel, and facilities within the unit and
serve as a liaison between the Director, faculty, staff, college, and
external parties.
Duties & Responsibilities
Operations administration
Assist the Director in the overall operation of the department and
liaise with faculty and staff. Make day-to-day decisions in the absence
of the Director and refine the strategic priorities of the department to
execute and implement those decisions. Help to foster a strong trust and
culture in the department amongst faculty and staff. Build an
environment for success founded on the mission and vision of the
department.
Assist the Director in strategic planning by compiling and analyzing
data for various strategy-related projects and meetings.
Collaborate with the Advancement Director on the administration and use
of University of Illinois Foundation gift funds for the unit.
Oversee departmental contracts, grants, and agreements within the
department, ensuring University policy is followed.
Oversee facility use, maintenance, and upgrades.
In coordination with the administrative team and Registrar, oversee
student registration process.
Provide resources to staff and administer conflict resolution when
needed.
Serve as the Director\'s designee in a variety of administrative
matters.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Business office oversight
Supervise the Business Office Staff (i.e., review and coordinate faculty
absence requests; conduct performance evaluations; manage daily work
expectations, operations, performance, etc.) and provide office coverage
as needed while supervising the main office staff.
Manage financial communications on daily school-level issues.
Manage, communicate, and report faculty leave requests.
Create a dynamic work setting that supports the opportunity for growth,
allowing employees to perform at the highest capacity. Cultivate an
environment that fosters effective communication.
In collaboration with the administrative team, create and maintain
standard operating procedures for departmental resources.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Safety administration
Serve as unit Asbestos Designated Person.
In coordination with the Assistant Director, oversee school safety and
emergency procedures, including the Emergency Response Plan.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
Required-
Bachelor\'s degree in business administration, management, or a field
related to the position.
Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial
work experience. (NOTE: A Master\'s Degree in an area consistent with
the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12
months) of work experience.)
Preferred-
Demonstrated project management experience.
Demonstrated experience at an administrative level within the University
of Illinois system or a High School environment.
Successful candidates will have the following-
Highly developed skills in management, organization, business, and
leadership.
Understanding of financial and budgeting processes and principles.
Successful experience in a leadership role.
Ability and interest in problem solving, independently and as part of a
collaborative team
A thorough understanding of the organizational structure of Uni High as
it relate to the Office of the Provost and the University is necessary.
Extensive knowledge of guidelines and business policies and practices
set forth by the University.
Excellent interpersonal skills and must be comfortable working with
secondary school students.
Detail-oriented level of organizational skills.
Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5010 - Business/Administrative
Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start
date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. Minimum
salary is \$75,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary,
considering factors such as available market data, internal equity,
candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining
