Position Title: Food Program Coordinator

Reporting To: Executive Director

Location: Virginia Beach, Virginia

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt; Part Time (approximately 30 hours per week) Hourly rate: $17

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Food  Program Coordinator executes day-to-day duties including but not limited to sorting, stocking and purchasing food for the Patriot’s Pantry and branch operations, oversight of periodic volunteers and food distribution initiatives and delivering excellent customer service. We are looking for someone who can stretch a dollar, find the best deals and fill our pantry closet with healthy food for those in need of emergency assistance food. This part-time position is approximately 15 hours per week and typically Monday – Friday with very rare Saturday or special event requirements in support of the organization. Some flexibility is available in the daily schedule for the right employee. If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of military families this position is for you. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures the delivery of exceptional customer service to pantry patrons.

  • Sort items received through donations 

  • Oversight of a monthly mobile food drop on a military installation 

  • Solicits and provides direction to volunteers

  • Performs computer duties related to tracking donations, patron metrics, etc.

  • Ensures the pantry is clean and stocked as needed.

  • Handles pick up and purchasing of food for the pantry.

  • Assist with social media presence and other public relations initiatives.

  • Oversight of the food subsidy program which encourages more nutritious meals and snacks in child care facilities. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned to support food insecurity programs at the branch

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Possess solid organization and planning skills. Be proficient in multi-tasking. 

  • Must be able to function in various work environments and work with multiple internal departments and external donors and organizations

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and prioritize work assignments with minimal guidance.

  • Experience with military lifestyles/military community is appreciated but not necessary

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Base access a plus.

  • Work experience with a non-profit organization is a plus but not necessary.

  • Desire to work on a team and have a CAN-DO attitude

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions.

  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds. 

  • Although a rare occurrence, we may be expected to work at special events outside normal working hours, including some weekends. 

  • Expected to complete local pickups and food runs.
