Position Title: Instructional Aide

GENERAL
Building Aides provide classroom support for both teachers and students.
Assists with meeting established student outcomes in
their capacity to master learning objectives; reinforcement activities,
preparation, scheduling, communication, students personal
needs and logistics as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year experience preferred.
Master Teacher Para Educator assessments (in lieu of 60+ college
hours/transcript) if assigned to a Title 1 building.
Good communications skills (written/verbal).
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office software; including the use
of Excel spreadsheets and district email.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
faculty, staff and school community.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
furnished in written, oral or diagram form;
ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in
standardized situation.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentially
at all times.
Must support district mission, goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists in helping students with academic and low self-esteem problems
who may be at risk of falling behind in their
study skills; keeps regular students schedules; takes attendance;
reports classroom work; keep records for at risk
students.
Works with students in math, science, social studies, and language arts
as assigned; works with varied student behaviors.
Keeps smooth classroom structured environment to assist students
behavior variations and controls behavior and/or
emergency situations.
Obtains lesson goals and objectives from teachers; uses continued
reinforcement, communication skills and supervision.
Assists with specific memory and study skills; help individual students
achieve their learning objectives by working with
them individually and in small groups on alphabet, phonics, numbers,
listening skills, writing as directed, etc.
Provides clarification of daily expectations to individual students and
small groups to help keep student on task.
Prepares displays, events (in classroom and/or other environments);
takes requests for printing from teacher, makes
required copies and distributes in classroom; assists with various
listening and learning opportunities necessary material
and/or equipment.
Supports classroom rules for student interaction (courtesy and respect
for belongings, space and ideas), self-control,
working independently and accepts reminders from teachers.
Supervises lunchroom.

Assists with other reports and files as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Regular attendance is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly
required to sit, walk, stand, talk and hear. Physical exertion
to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials
up to 50 lbs., stooping, bending and reaching may be required.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and
distance vision. Some extended hours and multiple demands
from several people are frequently required by the employee.
