Title:** Maintenance Repair/Industrial

Shift: 1^st^ Shift (6:00AM -- 4:30PM)

Starting Pay Range: $20.00 - $28.00 (Based on Experience)

SUMMARY

Installs, maintains and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structure, and pipe and electrical systems in industrial establishments, following specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings, using hand tools, power tools, hoist, crane, and measuring and testing instruments

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment, using electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts, following specifications and blueprints, using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, using rags, brushes, and grease gun.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • May install machinery and equipment according to blueprints and other specifications. May install programs, or repair automated machinery and equipment, such as robots or programmable controllers.
  • May set up and operate machine tools, such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
  • May operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Between 4 and 10 years of trade school, vocational education, work experience or apprenticeship

VISUAL ACUITY

  • Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts

HEARING ABILITY

  • Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action
