Thompson Metal Fab Shipping & Receiving Driver in Vancouver, Washington

The Pacific Northwest's premier steel fabricator, Thompson Metal Fab, Inc., is in immediate need of skilled and experienced Fitters / Fabricators / Welders. Serving the Civil, Hydro, Oil & Gas, and custom fabrication industries. We are an AISC, API, ASME, and WABO certified facility. With over 85 years in the industry, we have a reputation for producing some of the highest quality fabricated products on the West Coast.

This position is primarily fitting, but welding experience is necessary. Previous experience as a fitter will be prioritized. This position is available for Day shift 6:30AM-3:00PM Mon-Fri, with optional overtime opportunities.

Competitive wages start ranging between $19.73 and $28.29 an hour.

All employees must pass a pre-employment drug screen and pre-employment physical.

 

Job Summary:

  • The Shipping & Receiving Driver supports the Shipping & Receiving department by ensuring timely, accurate, and safe transportation of materials, products, and supplies. Responsibilities include loading and unloading materials, verifying shipment documentation, maintaining inventory accuracy, and safely transporting materials between TMF locations, vendors, and customer sites.

     

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate company vehicles (including flatbed trucks, forklifts, and rental delivery vehicles) to transport materials, products, and equipment.
  • Load, unload, secure, and protect materials during transportation.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against shipping documents, purchase orders, and packing lists.
  • Assist in preparing shipments by packaging, labelling, and documenting items accurately.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of shipping documentation.
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections, promptly reporting any issues or concerns.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of shipping and receiving areas.
  • Assist with cycle counting and inventory management tasks as assigned.
  • Support Shipping & Receiving Foreman with other duties as required.

     

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and safely.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and climbing.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, exposed to varying weather conditions and industrial environments.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role in a similar industry.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required).
  • Forklift operation certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Familiarity with shipping/receiving processes, material handling, and inventory control.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and inventory purposes.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, responsibly, and safely.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
