Position Description

 

TITLE Health Educator

REPORTS TO Clinical Services Director

POSITION CLASSIFICATION Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt

SALARY $14.98-18.52

        

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing outreach, health education, counseling, and referral services for the Health Services programs.  Incumbent will provide varied public relations/marketing services which includes but not limited to: overseeing an outreach plan including social media posts, press releases, and community events; performing educational presentations; and planning activities to promote services.

Prior marketing and medical experience or knowledge preferred.  Individual must be able to satisfactorily perform duties and;

  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing; have the ability to write reports and business correspondence; have the ability to e ffectively present information;

  • Cooperate successfully as a member of a team;

  • Possess good organizational skills, with sensitivity to details; and

  • Have knowledge of computer operations, and possess skills preferably with MS Office.

    ADDITIONAL job requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle with required liability insurance for use in business related travel.

  • Must ensure efficient operations and present a professional image in conduct, attitude and attire.

  • Must be philosophically compatible with the mission of PACE.

    Essential Duties & responsibilities

     

  • Develop and maintain a basic understanding of the corporation to include its programs, services and policies.

  • Create and implement a community and business outreach plan.

  • Introduce and implement new promotional strategies.

  • Assist with marketing, client recruitment, and public relation strategies.

  • Develop, implement, and present customized community educational programs.

  • Conduct individual and group education tailored for specific needs.

  • Create, organize, and perform outreach opportunities and events.

  • Organize, participate, and present at business and community meetings.

  • Maintain information library, including researching and recommending purchase of educational materials.

  • Assist with the provision of referrals and information to clients.

  • Ensure proper care and use of supplies and equipment.

  • Protect client/patient confidentiality.

  • Maintain appropriate records, including documentation of contacts.

  • Travel to other sites and clinics within our service area.

  • Attend all assigned training and meetings.

  • Submit timely, accurate and complete reports.

  • Comply with company, state and federal regulations.

  • Provide on-going communication and information sharing with staff, participants and community members.

    Physical/Mental Demands

    Requires sitting, standing, stooping, bending and reaching with manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, copy machines, telephone and other office equipment.  May require moving or lifting up to 50 pounds.   Must physically be able to intervene in the event of an emergency. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

    Must be able to handle diverse work problems on a daily basis.  Requires ability to set priorities and work schedule, yet adjust to changes necessitated by last minute assignments and deadline requests that may prove stressful.  Consistent pleasant attitude is necessary with personal maturity as an important attribute.  Must relate and interact with people at all levels of the company and in a culturally diverse environment.
