What you can expect to do here:
Provide technical leadership in both field and office environments.
Oversee and guide junior technicians in materials-related projects.
Conduct field and laboratory testing of various materials on construction sites, including in-situ density testing, concrete, and asphalt materials.
Perform thorough construction site reconnaissance, inspections, and observations.
Direct fieldwork operations for subsurface investigations.
Supervise drill rigs and/or excavators during fieldwork.
Log boreholes and test pits accurately.
Project coordination and assisting project managers.
Conduct site surveying to determine elevations at specific locations.
Collect soil and groundwater samples.
Prepare detailed site sketches.
Utilize specialized equipment and apparatus for data collection.
Summarize and analyze findings from investigations and lab testing.
Prepare comprehensive technical reports.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members.
Adapt to changing project requirements and field conditions.
Assist with other field and office activities as needed.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
Alternatively, a College Diploma in a Civil Engineering Technician/Technology or Construction Engineering Technician/Technology program with a strong focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
6 to 10 years of experience working as a geotechnical technician.
Proven track record in fieldwork, materials testing, and site investigations.
Proficiency in drilling procedures.
Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
Demonstrated ownership attitude, initiative, and enthusiasm.
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
