What you can expect to do here:

  • Provide technical leadership in both field and office environments.

  • Oversee and guide junior technicians in materials-related projects.

  • Conduct field and laboratory testing of various materials on construction sites, including in-situ density testing, concrete, and asphalt materials.

  • Perform thorough construction site reconnaissance, inspections, and observations.

  • Direct fieldwork operations for subsurface investigations.

  • Supervise drill rigs and/or excavators during fieldwork.

  • Log boreholes and test pits accurately.

  • Project coordination and assisting project managers.

  • Conduct site surveying to determine elevations at specific locations.

  • Collect soil and groundwater samples.

  • Prepare detailed site sketches.

  • Utilize specialized equipment and apparatus for data collection.

  • Summarize and analyze findings from investigations and lab testing.

  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members.

  • Adapt to changing project requirements and field conditions.

  • Assist with other field and office activities as needed.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.

  • Alternatively, a College Diploma in a Civil Engineering Technician/Technology or Construction Engineering Technician/Technology program with a strong focus on Geotechnical Engineering.

  • 6 to 10 years of experience working as a geotechnical technician.

  • Proven track record in fieldwork, materials testing, and site investigations.

  • Proficiency in drilling procedures.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.

  • Demonstrated ownership attitude, initiative, and enthusiasm.

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
