Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Material Manager is responsible for all material and supply operations performed under the contract. Candidate must have a comprehensive knowledge of Army military equipment and supply procedures governing regulations, policies, and procedures. Leads functional planning, operational execution, compliance, and mission support services. Coordinates material requirements and delivery schedules with functional and project management; communicates status updates and change requests as required. Manages a team of personnel responsible for reviewing work schedules, inventory levels, material requisitions and delivery status to ensure necessary supplies of material and supplies at supported locations. Requisitions material and establishes sequential delivery dates, according to priorities and material availability. Manages the accountability of all unit equipment and supplies; reviews and evaluates operations and anticipates needs; analyzes data and makes recommendations to ensure accountability; develops budgets and purchases new inventory; maintains an effective supply discipline program; coordinates with Item Managers, Fielding Teams, and other logistic agencies; purchases and maintains supplies; processes and follows up on transactions; schedules and maintains inventories; ensures adequate supplies; collects and returns worn-out and damaged supplies and equipment. Additionally, candidate must have a familiarity with the Army logistics information systems and the ability to provide information and reports, resolve issues, and recommend actions to improve operational readiness. Maintains accuracy of information in computerized records, such as material inventory, in-process reports, and status and location of materials. Evaluates existing practices; initiates and/or recommends improvements. Ensures that operations are conducted in accordance with safe work practices. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

As directed by management, may supervise employees or subcontractor personnel in accordance with the “General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities” addendum.

TYPICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position may be located in a wide variety of environments, from conventional indoor office workspace to project worksites with harsh, working and living conditions.

To ensure compliance with safety, health and security requirements in the contract, employee will possess the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language at the intermediate level as necessary to perform assigned job functions.

Position requires the basic skills and physical ability necessary to perform assigned job functions.

TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and thirteen (13) to sixteen (16) years related experience. Requires computer skills and proficiency using email, Microsoft Office or specialized applications as necessary to perform assigned job functions. Experience working within Global Combat Support System (GCSS-Army) is a must.
