Role Overview:
As a Field Development Engineer / Front End Engineer, you will support both organic and inorganic growth by identifying and developing competitive and credible surface facilities to realize the full value of our greenfield and brownfield development opportunities. You will play a key role in our greenhouse gas (GHG) agenda, ensuring our projects are competitive from a GHG perspective and underpinning the next generation of projects for Shell, enabling us to thrive in the energy transition.
Where You Fit In:
Report to the Front-End Engineering Manager and serve as the Surface Engineering Engineer for greenfield and brownfield development projects, from feasibility studies through the start of FEED, before handing over to the Project Delivery Organization.
Support the Senior Front-end Engineer in various new greenfield and area development projects, as well as opportunities in the brownfield development portfolio in Sarawak/Sabah; Additionally, may also support facilities optimization or debottlenecking projects in producing assets, and develop conceptual decommissioning and abandonment plan for assets that ceased production
Work closely with field development lead, subsurface, asset and wells to develop an appropriate and competitive Surface Scope that supports the project's value proposition.
Key Responsibilities:
Support and integrate a natural, multidisciplinary team of Surface Engineering resources.
Drive competitiveness from project inception through the application of competitiveness tools, standardized solutions, systems engineering, ALARP in terms of safety, championing low GHG technologies, and learning from others.
Set projects up for smooth transition into FEED, Detailed Design, and execution through collaboration with the receiving projects organization on key deliverables and strategies.
Take on front end engineering responsibilities for the delivery of brownfield or greenfield projects, and Decommissioning & Restoration projects.
Scale work activities to support quality decision-making in a resource-constrained organization.
What We Need from You
7+ years of oil and gas industry experience with strong technical grounding in primary discipline (project or discipline engineering e.g. process, mechanical, electrical, structural etc).
Exposure to project execution and/or operations, with a broad range of experience covering brownfield/rejuvenation, infill, and greenfield offshore projects.
Understanding of the integrated relationship between Subsurface, Wells, and Surface solutions.
Proven track record of delivering as part of a multidisciplinary team of technical professionals, demonstrating professional curiosity to learn, and identifying improvements with bottom-line impact.
Strong collaboration, communication, and integration skills
Creative thinker with the ability to identify and support key decisions at various development stages to improve the overall end-to-end value of the project
