Red Hat AI/ML Infrastructure Engineer in Italy

The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for an experienced developer to join us as a Software Engineer in our growing AI team to build our AI/ML infrastructure. In this role, you will help build, support, develop and maintain the AI-related components in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) that are required for RHEL and our layered products, such as Red Hat OpenShift AI (https://www.redhat.com/en/technologies/cloud-computing/openshift/openshift-ai) . These components will include AI frameworks, such as PyTorch, as well as support libraries and tools necessary to give ISVs, our internal RHEL teams and our layered product teams the environment required to develop AI-based applications, tools and infrastructure. You will work alongside our GPU and Hardware Accelerator teams, who will be integrating hardware support for the AI components that you will be building out. We're open to candidates in the following: Spain, Italy, Czech Republic and Ireland.

What you will do

  • Build, support, develop, and maintain the AI infrastructure that developers can use to build AI models

  • Participate in and collaborate with the AI/ML framework upstream communities

  • Work closely with key stakeholders within Red Hat who are using the frameworks, libraries, and tools that you build

  • Optimize the AI infrastructure to better perform and integrate with our layered products

  • Be part of the team defining the AI platforms that will be used by the AI/ML industry

What you will bring

  • Fluent in Python, C/C++, and Linux scripting tools

  • Expertise in PyTorch, TensorFlow or similar AI/ML platforms

  • Upstream development experience with the internals of AI platforms, such as PyTorch, and related tools, utilities and libraries

  • Passion for growing expertise in the AI/ML

  • Strong English written and verbal communication and organizational skills

The following are considered a plus

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; Master's degree or PhD is a big plus

  • Experience in operating system integration and tooling; RHEL experience is a big plus

  • Experience with container-related technologies like Podman, OpenShift or Kubernetes

  • Knowledge of Git version control system

  • Passion for developing open source/FOSS solutions for the AI/ML space
