Opportunity

The Business Development Manager - Projects West will act as the primary field leadership in driving Kohler and Sterling sales through the project channels. The primary focus of this individual will be indirectly managing a sales team, building, and executing the overall regional strategy for projects and specifications, resulting in profitable sales growth and increased market share. Specific areas of will include developers, architects, designers, hotel owners, engineers, mechanical contractors, and distribution.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop, articulate, and implement a comprehensive strategy that allows Kohler Co. to achieve corporate Project objectives in assigned MSA’s.

  • Develops a tactical plan for the implementation of projects and specification programs at the regional level. Works in conjunction with Branch Sales Managers and sales teams as needed to identify, prioritize, and facilitate growth in the project channels.

  • Oversees the development and ownership of key relationships with the most influential Multifamily Developers, Hospitality/Hotel Owners, A&D firms, General Contractors, and Mechanical Contractors involved in the Project building sector.

  • Responsible for Regional project tracking. Indirectly manage sales team’s usage of internal project tracking software for each assigned MSA project zone within the Region. Strategically manage the sales team, sales resources, and project market around the active project pipeline for each MSA.

  • Coach & develop the performance of a team of high-performing sales associates focused on hotels, multifamily, and other commercial opportunities.

  • Coordinates, develops, reviews, and approves annual growth forecasts.

  • Proven ability to position products against competitors by providing differentiated and achievable solutions.

  • Evaluate project market trends, establish sales teams project quotation process for the Region, maintain an in-depth understanding of competitors products and project pricing strategy in each MSA, and drive engagement between the regional sales teams, their secured projects, and production planning.

  • In conjunction with Marketing, recommend appropriate price strategies to allow Kohler Co. to achieve annual business growth objectives.

  • Identify and communicate business critical priorities to other departments within Kohler Co. Scope of responsibility includes new products and programs capable of delivering a competitive advantage.

  • Collaborate with affiliated Branch Sales Managers-Wholesale and other Vertical Sales Managers to prepare annual Market Development Plans and to optimize the position of Kohler Co. across all vertical channels.

  • Prepare and maintain regional sales forecast reports, develop strategic market development plans for all zones, implement field sales action plan for the Region

Skills/Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

  • Minimum of 5+ years sales experience or plumbing industry experience required.

  • Has a solid understanding of two-step distribution and pull-through selling.

  • Must possess proficient skills in written and oral communication with all levels of management and with outside contacts.

  • Proven leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated record of achievement in prior sales management or sales position.

  • Ability to travel as required by role (up to 50% of the time)

Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

The salary range for this position is $106,900 to 133,600. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
