Director of Career Center (Student Career Program Director, HEO) - Student Services
POSITION DETAILS
The Director of Career Center will report to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, ECP. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Director will be responsible for the following duties:
· Providing innovative and strategic leadership, program development, and administration of a comprehensive career center that serves all students, drawing on creative and forward-thinking direction, and with the vision to develop new programs and initiatives that address evolving employment and educational trends;
· Leading, motivating, and supervising a staff of full-time career counselors and multiple administrative assistants;
· Coordinating efforts among the career advisors, internship coordinators, student mentors, and other staff participating in the college-wide “HunterWorks” career success initiative;
· Coordinating efforts with career staff who work in other parts of the college, such as the Cooperman Business Center or the Public Policy Program;
· Building relationships with all academic departments and schools, to facilitate their programming and teaching around career readiness, and help embed career-thinking around the college;
· Ensuring thorough data collection regarding student internship and employment outcomes data;
· Maintaining accurate and up-to-date data on labor market trends and occupation-specific skills considered in-demand by employers in different sectors, and across sectors;
· Identifying student needs for information and advising on career planning, employment, graduate schools, and scholarships. In collaboration with staff, creating programs, services, and web publications to meet those needs;
· Collaborating with the Alumni office for internships, career advice and mentoring for students;
· Developing efficient and impactful processes for sourcing, communicating, and connecting students to specific internship and job opportunities;
· Developing corporate/employer relationship strategies that expand employer involvement with the college and the recruitment of Hunter students to jobs and internships;
· Ensuring access to up-to-date career resources and technical services, including vocational interest assessments, resume building tools, interview skills, internship and job listings, and others;
· Producing and directing regular career fairs and information exchange programs;
· Reviewing and updating annually all career services publications, websites, and brochures.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree and eight years’ related experience required.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience managing teams of full-time staff in a university/college setting.
· At least ten years of professional experience in university/college setting. Full-time experience in student services is preferred, ideally in career development.
· Important knowledge and capabilities necessary include career counseling techniques, knowledge of job trends and career development skills, effective public relations and networking abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· A strong understanding the policies and structure of a typical four-year, public university is preferred.
· A strong understanding of employer hiring processes and cyclical timelines – including differences between various sectors and differences across occupational clusters

Directs the career services function for a College or Unit.
Establishes goals, objectives, and plans for providing career services; assesses and reports outcomes to management and the overall College community
Directs overall operations of physical and virtual career centers, including staff, facilities, and technologies
Plans and implements marketing strategies for identifying and cultivating a diverse group of potential employers
Plans, promotes, and markets services and information to students, including information resources, career counseling, informational programs, and assessment programs
Hires, trains, and manages full- and part-time staff as well as student interns
Collaborates with other academic and administrative units to promote the goals of the career office
Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience. ($119,995 - $141,858).
