Shire Inside Sales Specialist - California in United States

The Inside Sales Specialist (ISS) is responsible for engaging with eye care professionals, via telephone conversations and in person visits if there is a vacancy in their area. The ISS achieves this by communicating with eye care professionals on their target list to educate them about product features, benefits, safety profile and approved indications to ensure appropriate patient use. The ISS utilizes approved tools for product and program promotion and maintains a competent level of product, program and customer activity knowledge.

Required Education and Experience:

  • BS/BA degree required

  • 3+ years of success selling in the life sciences industry; or experience selling within the eye care industry; or a recent college graduate with pharmaceutical intern experience or a degree in the sciences.

  • Inside sales and/or contact center experience preferred.

  • Ability to work independently, highly organized and superior communication skills.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities :

  • Manage daily sales call activity according to defined expectations, with the purpose of educating customers and increasing product sales.

  • Promote product(s) via outbound telephone calls by engaging assigned eye care professional targets in in-depth program discussions to attain individual, territory and company goals for sales, market share, etc. Outbound calls may be required to Pharmacies.

  • Respond to inbound calls from eye care professionals to address their questions regarding product(s), if required by the program in a timely, professional and accurate manner.

  • Profile and manage targeted list of eye care professionals and provide education and information to grow product volume.

  • Create and implement business plans to achieve territory and business sales goals.

  • Maintain call productivity and metrics that are required by program.

  • If applicable, be able to answer questions about securing product information and samples.

  • Effectively and persuasively communicate with customers using effective selling, listening and negotiation skills, proper terminology and approved messaging.

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of product(s) and program.

  • Verify and complete required data entry in CRM systems, such as details of the target’s responses and any follow-through actions.

  • Listen and respond appropriately to customer needs and questions.

  • Communicate with the Regional Director and team members as required.

  • Create and maintain a positive impression with all stakeholders, including Shire’s customers, employees and partners.

  • Prepare reports for management as needed.

  • Fully comply with all laws, regulations and Shire Policies, Code of Conduct, all privacy and data guidelines and relevant state and federal laws and regulations.

  • Participate in teleconference and live (when required) National, regional and district meetings and training sessions when applicable.

  • Complete other projects as assigned by the Region Director.
