Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Facility Planner to work in our Maintenance Department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off.

MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel development and fabrication through post irradiation analysis..

Responsibilities Include:

  • Plan and prepare work instructions that provide direction to the Maintenance Department for corrective maintenance repairs, performance of preventive maintenance, and the implementation of modifications.
  • Request and ensure receipts for all materials needed for work package execution. Obtain job materials and tools/equipment, and coordinate support crafts, operations, technical support to provide for smooth execution of maintenance work.
  • Conduct field walkdowns to identify and analyze corrective and preventive maintenance, modification activities and to provide input for refining and improving work package quality. Communicate with Work Execution Management, Supply, Operations, and Engineering to resolve work package issues.
  • Define procedures, drawings, equipment and materials required to performing planned work packages. Facilitate package preparation by preparing or submitting required work permits, plant barrier impairments, welding/grinding permits, fire impairments, and operability impact statements.
  • Verify work instructions are adequate and comply with all applicable DOE order and all laboratory and mission center procedures. Review all required work packages to ensure safety, high quality, technical thoughtfulness, and screening or evaluation (if required).
  • Develop maintenance procedures to facilitate and enhance work package development, maintain compliance with codes, standards, and vendor recommendation, and maintenance direction.
  • Provide project management of other system planners or contractors to develop detailed elements of overall package preparation.
  • Participate in work control/scheduling meetings, planning feedback/craft interface time, detailed contract requisition reviews, complex troubleshooting, detailed OPEX searches, Maintenance risk/CO request reviews, Planner peer reviews, and system interaction reviews to ensure applicable station processes and applicable changes are supported
  • Evaluate maintenance work requests and develop a maintenance work plan which includes requirements for materials, labor safety considerations, environmental compliance, special work permits, outages.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's Degree with 0 - 2 years of relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 - 5 years of relevant experience, or
  • Associate's degree and 4 - 7 years of relevant experience, or
  • High School Diploma with 8 – 11 years of relevant experience is required
  • Relevant experience includes at least one of the following:
  • Maintenance (Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Control, HVAC, Heavy Equipment)
  • Construction or Project Management
  • Nuclear Research
  • Navy Nuclear or Commercial Nuclear Maintenance /Operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft, Editing, Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" / "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 2 ($63,528 - $130,284) / Level 3 ($75,804 - $155,496).At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
