Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

-Conducts research activities on genome engineering in yeast, E. coli and arthropod systems in contained laboratory environment.-Design and assembly of synthetic DNA constructs, obtaining and analyzing transgenic and gene edited clones, scoring patterns of inheritance and measuring expression/fitness of engineered strains.-Collection of data and keeping of detailed records of results, as well as utilizing computer programs and databases to conduct analyses.-Perform experiments needed to evaluate the nutritional status of various engineered microbes for gene edited or transgenic insect strains.-Evaluate data, drafts figures, prepares research manuscripts and presents findings at conferences.-Train/supervise research support staff .-Other duties as required.

Required Education/Experience:-Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Entomology or closely related field

Preferred Education/Experience:

-Research experience/training in molecular biology techniques-Preferred experience in the genetics and recombineering of yeast.Required skills, knowledge or abilities:- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -Perform various molecular biology and genetic techniques; able to analyze data and write reports; computer literate to include ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks as directed by the supervisor; and detailed oriented. -Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
