Taconic Biosciences is seeking a Services Technician to join our dedicated team in our Rensselaer, NY location.
Taconic is committed to the safety and health of our team members. As such, the COVID-19 vaccine will be required for all employees barring religious & medical exemption with approvals. The starting Pay: $19.55 per hour
The Schedule: Monday - Friday, Sunday- Thursday and Tuesday - Saturday shifts available, hours are flexible

The Role:
Services Technicians are responsible for animal husbandry – caring for laboratory animals (mice and/or rats) in designated areas. These individuals ensure that high standards of animal welfare are met, and that the animals are fed, clean, and cared for. Services Technicians are also responsible for assisting with the breeding of animals and performing biopsies as necessary, as well as maintaining accurate inventory records.
Duties of the Services Technician include the following:
Place animals in clean cages and supply food, water, and bedding
Monitor temperature and humidity of cage area and report problems to the appropriate individual
Maintain cleanliness of area
Report inhumane treatment regarding animal care, use, or abuse
Document work performed and complete weekly reports
Take part in weight, feed, and production studies
Take samples for quality control
Following procedures for breeding specific groups of animals
Maintain complicated breeding schemes and work cooperatively with other departments and supervisors
Perform biopsies and maintain biopsy record sheets
Reserve, select, and accurately pack animals for customer orders
Transfer to and receive animals from other on-site locations
Order supplies, load and unload supplies
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and other instructions.
Regular physical exertion is required, such as climbing, crouching, crawling, and/or lifting items up to 50 pounds.
Education and Experience:
Associates of Science degree (A.S) from two-year college or technical school, or technical/managerial experience at an equivalent level
Bachelors degree in Life Sciences or related course of study preferred
1 year work experience, or equivalent experience
AALAS certifications preferred
Attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Basic computer and math skills are required
