We are seeking passionate and driven students enrolled in college/university programs to fill our Student Cooperative positions on teams within Office of Audit: Retail Sales, Marketing and International Infrastructure and Supply Management Bring your skills and voice to our team! Responsibilities In-Office Requirement: The U.S. Postal Service, Office of Inspector General values collaboration, teamwork, and effective communication to foster our dynamic working and learning environment. The position adheres to our agency's telework policy to facilitate this and requires an in-office presence of at least two (2) days per pay period. Remote work is not available for this role. About the Retail, Marketing, and Supply Management Directorates: The USPS's mission is to bind the nation together through the delivery of mail and to provide prompt, reliable, and efficient postal services to all communities each day. The USPS OIG conducts systematic performance, financial, or attestation reviews and audits of USPS programs and operations, including assessments of efficiency and adequacy of internal controls; compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and/or contracts; and detection of fraud, waste, and abuse. The Retail Directorate conducts various types of audits and evaluations to assess the efficiency of USPS's retail activities and operations, including accepting mail and packages, providing counter service at post offices, or overseeing commercial outlets that sell stamps and services on behalf of USPS. The Infrastructure & Supply Management Directorate explores major USPS infrastructure and contracting efforts to determine if supply chain and facilities costs are being effectively and efficiently controlled by current purchasing policies, initiatives, and practices. To that end, we issue audit and management advisory reports about purchasing, contracting, supply management, and facilities programs. The Sales, Marketing and International Directorate audits and reviewing data collection systems, operations, and services related to sales and customer relations, marketing, product innovation, global business, mail entry and payment technology, and corporate communications issues. These directorates also help oversee USPS's efforts to electrify its delivery fleet, modernize its related infrastructure, and meet sustainability targets as part of its Delivering for America 10-Year Plan. This is not a summer or fall internship program. This position is being advertised at the Administrative Band level. The base salary range for this position is $16.29-$19.62/hour. Locality Pay is authorized. For more information on your specific locality, visit: 2024 General Schedule (GS) Locality Pay Tables Sophomore $16.29 per hour, with additional locality pay. Junior/Senior $17.31 per hour, with additional locality pay. Graduate or Law Student $19.62 per hour, with additional locality pay. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS You must meet ALL of the minimum requirements. Students must be currently enrolled in an auditing, accounting, or related field (see below list of related degrees) full or half-time in an accredited college or university program, classified or academically ranked by semester hours as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student graduating no sooner than DECEMBER 2024. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPT STATING CURRENT ENROLLMENT STATUS, GPA AND IN GOOD STANDING) Must be in academic good standing as defined by the college or university, earning at least a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale. Must be able to report to work in the USPS OIG office for which you are selected during core business hours. (Minimum once per week) Must have experience with computer software applications such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, etc. Additional Related and Accepted Degrees: Business Related, including but not limited to: Auditing, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, International Business, Management, Marketing, Organizational Behavior/Psychology, etc. Government Related, including but not limited to: Criminal Justice, Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Law, Public Relations/Communications, etc. Technically Related, including but not limited to: Engineering, Cybersecurity, Human Resources, Information Technology, Journalism/Investigative Reporting, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, etc. DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS Interest in obtaining professional certifications, such as Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Information Systems Auditor. Experience with using techniques from a range of disciplines, including computer programming, mathematics, and statistics, to draw conclusions from data to describe, predict, and improve performance. Use of software such as ACL, R, SAS, SPSS, and Power BI is a plus.
