Duties
The Senior Quality Engineer I is responsible for gathering relevant, factual information and data in order to solve quality related problems; resolve issues by identifying and applying solutions from acquired technical experience and guided precedents; plan and lead projects by identifying and organizing activities into time dependent sequencing with realistic timelines; work effectively/productively with all departments by developing a team atmosphere; assuring products conform to established requirements and standards through appropriate audit, inspection, and test activities. Interacts with many different functional departments, suppliers, and experts outside Zimmer to implement Zimmer Quality goals.
• 40% Interfaces with Suppliers to coach and facilitate progression through the Supplier Change Notification process.
• 30% Interfaces with Suppliers to coach and facilitate progression through SCAR process and/or any other manufacturing issues. Meets with Suppliers regularly to work through their SCAR
and any issues or roadblocks that arise, and answer any of their questions.
• 20% Assist in any internal investigations that may arise from the use of supplier product and report back to key stake holders as required.
• 10% Performs supplier qualifications and onsite audits as required per schedule.
Requirements - Education and Experience
Education - Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering or related field. Must have 3 years of experience in in the job offered or related position.
Experience - Must have 2 years of experience in the following: Microsoft Office Suite; Blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing; QSR/ISO regulations, design assurance, FMEA, and product testing methods; Optical comparators and CMMs; Statistics, process control, and process capability.
Travel Expectations
Up to 20% of domestic travel required.
