Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will liaise between engineering and field operations and provide guidance on executing constructability plans. You will lead construction design decisions, interdisciplinary reviews, and project staffing. You will monitor construction performance and review deliverables. You will use your expertise to improve Bechtel’s existing methods by initiating project assessments and implementing improvements. Represents the field engineering and construction team during the Interface with other functional departments to ensure construction input to project plans, schedules, estimates, risk assessment and execution strategy. Define requirements and coordinate with Project Information Management Systems for development/use of construction automation tools and applications used during execution to collect data related to construction quantities, installation status, and quality inspection metrics.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance on executing approved Constructability ideas and plans.

  • Initiates the Constructability Program process and schedule, identifying construction related requirements to other functions in time to support their estimating efforts during project development/Front-End Engineering and Design phase.

  • Participates and may lead construction related design decisions by providing Construction’s perspective to schedules, design deliverables, equipment purchases, degree of shop fabrication, and equipment delivery configuration and sequence.

  • Maintains effective interface with home office construction team, jobsite team ensuring construction’s requirements are communicated to Engineering team

  • Leads and participates in 3D Model reviews, interdisciplinary coordination reviews of design drawings and ensures design is safe, constructible, and cost effective.

  • Ensure that local/national codes and Bechtel requirements, and standards are being complied with within their assigned area of responsibility.

  • Ensure implementation of all applicable project policies, procedures, and instructions.

  • Coordinate with Area Superintendents and supervision teams in following up with on completion and punch listing activities.

  • Prepare additional reports and forecasts as necessary in the management and administration of Completion activities.

  • Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for direct reporting team members.

  • Perform other duties as required by management.

  • Develops technical construction related documents.

  • Participates and provides input to the Subcontract formation process.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

  • Applicants must have native-level proficiency in Polish language.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled in verbal and written communication

  • Proficient use of computer applications, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Ability to navigate and search a variety of project databases.

  • Knowledge of engineering and construction systems, methods, and work processes on at least one engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil). Multidiscipline experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of field engineering work processes and work package execution, and construction automation processes.

  • Knowledge and ability to read and understand design output documents relative to construction field installation activities.

  • Knowledge of Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management, technologies, means and methods.

  • Knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out processes and procedures.

  • Knowledge of System Turnover processes and procedures

  • Working knowledge of discipline specific design and construction codes.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a ZERO Accident Safety Program

  • Previous engineering or construction experience on EPC, Power/Energy, or Government projects
