Within the Office of the Executive Vice President for Health Sciences, at Georgetown University Medical Center, the Deputy to the EVP provides critical, high-level support to optimize and prioritize the capacity of the EVP. The Deputy to the EVP plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC). This position develops and manages initiatives in support of the organization's constituencies, identifies enhancements to advance strategy, projects, policy, and processes at the Medical Center.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Create, drive, and direct the implementation of initiatives and special projects specifically related to the health sciences strategic pillars identified by the EVP.
At the direction of the EVP, assist in identifying new strategic hires within the office, including new hires supporting advancement and external relations.
Support the onboarding of the new strategic hires, ensuring implementation of high-quality initiatives which are responsive to the needs of member constituencies.
Strategize and direct one or more functions within the Office of the EVP, aligning efforts across the organization and breaking down silos while fostering collaboration.
Serving as a critical integrator, ensure that functions successfully integrate work output or services with other internal departments.
Work Interactions
The Deputy to the EVP reports to the Executive Vice President for Health Sciences, is a member of the EVP’s executive leadership team, and works in close coordination with the Vice President of Health Sciences Strategic Management and Operation, Vice President for Research, Vice President of Finance, Vice President for Faculty and Academic Affairs, the Chief of Staff to the EVP, and with the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Deans, and senior executive leadership of the university including the Chief of Staff to the President, the Chief of Staff to the C.O.O., the Deputy to the Provost, and the Chief of Staff to the Law Center. S/he routinely engages with leadership, faculty, staff and students in performance of his/her duties. The Deputy to the EVP’s interactions with internal and external constituencies are noted above. As needed to advance the strategic growth of the Medical Center, professional staff within the Office of the EVP might report to the Deputy.
Requirements and Qualifications
The Deputy to the EVP must possess very strong problem-solving and diplomacy skills and collaborate with and achieve actionable results working with others. The position requires confidentiality of privileged information and performs a wide range of duties that require highly effective assessment skills, communications skills, sensitivity, confidentiality, independent judgment, a strong knowledge of academic issues.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience working in an academic health center in a role that requires knowledge of the full range of the center and university functions. In addition:
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or Health Services Administration; A Master’s degree is preferred
10 or more years of experience in higher education, including academic medical centers
Experience developing and executing strategy project plans within a University Medical Center
Have strong relationships within the offices of senior leaders including, but not limited to: Offices of the President, the COO, Advancement, Provost and the Office of the EVP for Health Sciences
Project management experience in delivering horizontal objectives and improvements
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Strong problem solving and influencing skills

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$135,188.00 - $264,291.85
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
