SMX is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to support of the Federal Reserve Board in support of the Big Data Platform (BDP). This position is hybrid requiring minimum of one day a week onsite at the NW Washington, DC customer location.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for evaluating organizational data platform needs, analyzing current state components, designing target state solutions, and providing business justification for recommendations.
Understands how to translate organizational vision, strategy, and business objectives into target state technology platforms and underlying technologies.
Responsible for evaluating how changes to an existing, on premises installed Cloudera 7 platform will prepare the client for a future in the cloud.
Develop formal recommendations to the Head of Data Operations (DataOps) and Chief Data Officer (CDO) on how to achieve business objectives through technology transformation and digital operations.
Required Skills:
Seven or more years of experience as a technical Solution Architect within the Apache Cloudera technology stack, or similar cloud-based solutions.
Extensive experience in the following technologies: Cloudera Platform: Airflow, Apache NiFi, Atlas, Hadoop HDFS, HBase, Hive, Hue, Apache Iceberg, Apache Impala, Ozone, Phoenix, Ranger, Spark, Zeppelin.
Proficiency developing executive and c-suite level presentations to communicate evaluation findings and recommendations.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical audience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft office productivity tools.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Desired Skills / Certs:
Experience migrating on-premises Cloudera environments into the cloud.
Understanding and experience applying modern data governance practices.
Experience with modern metadata platforms such as Collibra, Apache Atlas, etc.
Experience with data pipeline solutions such as Apache NiFi, etc.
