What You Will Do :
Guidehouse is currently supporting the Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women, who provides federal leadership in developing the national capacity to reduce violence against women and administer justice for and strengthen services to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Guidehouse's support is within the scope of Operational Management, and we are seeking skilled Special Projects Coordinators to work directly with executive level leadership. The person in this role will perform duties within the following areas:
Monitor a broad range of communications to make scheduling determinations and recommendations and maintain the daily schedules of the legal team, including the General Counsel
Perform all actions required to schedule, coordinate, and setup/connect for Video Teleconferences (Teams or Zoom) as required
Draft and prepare a variety of documents to include briefing materials, legal memoranda, responses to routine inquiries, reports, and other related documents
Search and retrieve documents from databases (JustGrants, LexisNexis, Westlaw, etc.) and files as requested and provide limited research to assigned staff as necessary
Prepare and coordinate documents for review and distribute as necessary
Record notes for internal and external meetings
Arrange travel plans and itineraries as well as troubleshoot administrative issues in collaboration with the travel team
Support the legal team through the maintenance of trackers related to the grant life cycle, Office of Inspector General (OIG) investigations, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requests, and Office of Legislative Affairs and Office of Legal Policy correspondence
Clear the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) backlog, respond to incoming FOIA requests, and update the tracking method for processing FOIA requests
Update the administration of the OVW Ethics program
Work with the DOJ Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance, and Training (OPDAT) to host international visitor leadership program delegations at our office to further outreach efforts and share best practices
Participate in the grant life cycle by attending peer review sessions for grant proposals
Formalize internal Standard Operating Procedures
Manage travel to include arranging motor pool and other transportation
Research legal and policy issues with short turn-around times, including by coordinating with resource centers, DOJ library, OVW technical assistance providers, and researchers
Maintain absolute confidentiality about sensitive DOJ policy, programmatic, and administrative issues
What You Will Need :
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust
Bachelors degree or successful completion of Paralegal Degree or Law degree
A minimum of 3 years’ relevant consulting, paralegal, and/or experience in the Federal Government.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent Documentation Skills
Demonstrated working knowledge of legal research tools, such as LEXIS NEXIS, Westlaw, and Pacer.
What Would Be Nice to Have :
An ACTIVE and CURRENT SECRET federal security clearance
Experience supporting Federal grants management processes and procedures
Highly proficient in (preferred previous professional use of) Microsoft suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat
Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
Proactive planning and scheduling instinct
Extremely detail-oriented
Ability to work independently and with others, including strong relationship-building skills
