ATI is seeking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer to support full life-cycle management of Value-Add manufacturing for our Specialty Rolled Products business unit. This position will be based in Washington, PA.
This role involves cradle-to-grave engineering of value-added projects, primarily focused on transforming raw plate, coil, or sheet materials into semi-finished or finished parts. Manufacturing Engineers work with end customers to integrate value-added processes such as cutting and shaping, while ensuring all engineering, mill standards, and vendor coordination are in place. They spend significant time on process design, both internally and with third-party vendors, to meet industry standards and deliver quality products.
As in integral part of the commercial organization, this role will be required to interact and participate in negotiations with both internal and external customers and subcontractors.
Essential Functions
Develop, organizing and control project elements
Development of customer requests for quotation
Specification review, drawings review and revision control, and order entry review
Partner with the Technical team to develop the correct process flow (melt through ship) and testing
Partner with Operations and Technical counterparts on the development of instructions and procedures
Develop quality documents, procedures, and inspection requirements at Vendors
Review and approve inspection reports at Vendors based on key characteristics
Disposition of discrepant material both internal and external
Validation of key characteristics including but not limited to SPC charting and First Article Inspection Reports
Certification of material
Retention of records
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline
Previous experience or studies related to metallurgy, metallurgical engineering, materials science, and/or process engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the metals industry and knowledge of mill product production
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strategic thinking
Technical writing skills to establish PO and Contract parameters for services
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams and external customers
Effective influencing skills
Proficient use of MS-Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Teams) to develop and communicate ideas, projects, goals, etc.
Ability to analyze data and present information interpreted from that data effectively
