The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in our GES Global Engineering Services division.

The Sr. Inventory Specialist is responsible for daily inventory activities. The role of the Sr. Inventory Specialist is to work with other team members (IE: Inventory Planners, Inventory Analyst, and Inventory Specialists) to ensure compliance with Regulatory/Corporate/Safety and departmental guidelines. The Sr. Inventory Specialist is an expert in Inventory Management and therefor responsible for proper stocking levels and will support Abbott divisions in the requisitioning of Construction, Maintenance and Project Materials. The Sr. Inventory Specialist also participates in continuous improvement activities.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Direct the work of Inventory Specialists in requisitioning expediting/discrepancy resolution efforts and material return activities. This will include monitoring daily activity reports and prioritizing tasks as needed.

  • Manage stockroom inventory. These activities include the addition and obsolescence of inventory within assigned categories. Ensure proper ROP /ROQs are maintained to meet services levels required by stockroom customers. Report on category assigned performances indices as required.

  • Interfaces daily with Stockroom, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Corporate Interior Design, Maintenance, Construction Service and Design, their management, and Project Management. Outside interfaces include suppliers, contractors, manufacturers, shipping firms and freight carriers.

COMPLEXITY OF WORK:

Must possess strong inventory management skills and have knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Must be able to work independently as well as being able to work in team environments. Strong interpersonal skills are required. Computer skills and various software skills such as Microsoft Office is required. Strong commitment to customer service, quality, detail, and possess strong analytical skills. Excellent communication skills are necessary,

Accountability / Scope

Sr. Inventory Specialist is responsible for monitoring the daily activities of Inventory Specialists. Manage inventory fill rates, and departmental cycle times. ROP/ROQ adjustments as required. Adhere to key supplier agreements. Perform to achieve key indicators (departmental and Abbott Capabilities). Support Inventory Planners in key supplier evaluations, and inventory forecasting. Assist other team members with customer service-related support.

Required Qualifications

  • HS diploma, AA in business desirable.

  • 2+ Experience in Material Management, Maintenance. Purchasing and/or Planning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • APIC certification desirable

The base pay for this position is $22.00 – $44.00 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
