Actalent Quality Manager in WAUKESHA, Wisconsin

The Quality Manager will report to the Vice President of Operations and provide overall leadership, support, tools, and procedures by working the the leadership team to establish and maintain a culture of quality. The Quality Manager will manage all company-wide quality policies, procedures, processes, programs, and practices to assure the company of continuous conformance with standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure high quality, reliable products and services.

  • Lead the Quality efforts company wide. Work effectively with Leadership Team developing corporate Quality goals and ensuring the organization's effective fulfillment of such goals.

  • Establish, track and report on project status, quality standards and other key performance metrics.

  • Manage the quality resource activities including measurements, process improvements, employee training, capability and reliability of manufacturing process and equipment, independent assessments, and calibration of measuring equipment.

  • Follow up on defect trends – meet with responsible managers, develop improvement plans, provide historical data, etc. Document nonconformance and facilitate a timely disposition of the nonconformance.

  • Performs supplier and internal quality audits. Serves as the in-house expert on using and training 8 step problem-solving processes.

  • Develop, apply, and maintain quality requirements and standards for development and manufacturing products.

  • Directs the Quality Technicians and other quality support personnel.

  • In cooperation with the Human Resource Department, administer HR duties within the department.

  • Prioritize and assign projects, duties and tasks to department personnel based on skills and abilities.

  • Write, review, and control compliance documentation.

  • Compile, write, and deliver training material on quality standards and activities.

  • Evaluates current or new quality tools and technology and introduces these to the organization where applicable.

  • Facilitate the corrective action, prevention, and continuous improvement process systems for all critical customers.

  • Collaborate on the successful development and production launch of new products.

  • Support and lead continuous improvement across the organization in the interest of customer care and efficiency.

  • Collaborate and support manufacturing to ensure business product quality and reliability.

  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards.

  • Take direct responsibility and hands-on involvement on certain key projects.

  • Have and maintain a working understanding of statistical processes, controls, and failure analysis techniques and GD&T.

  • Perform all job duties following 5S/LEAN Manufacturing requirements and according to all safety and sanitation policies.

Required Skills:

  • Proven quality system design and management.

  • Ability to troubleshoot, identify root cause(s) and develop and implement effective solutions.

  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T

  • 6 Sigma Black or Green Belt

  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis and the tools.

  • Ability to use knowledge, experience and skills to lead and develop team in a corporative coaching manner.

  • Solid working knowledge of CAD, PDM and computer business software (MS Office, Database, etc.).

  • Proficient in the use of inspection equipment IE: including calipers, micrometers, gages, test fixtures.

Required Education & Experience:

  • 4-year technical degree is required, preferably BSME, BSIE, BSEE or equivalent.

  • Minimum 7 years in related hands on Quality Management

  • Experience in process development and quality assurance, inspection and testing.

  • Solid track record of incorporating sound quality principles to drive effective solutions.

  • Experience in leading a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in SolidWorks, AutoCAD or other design software.

  • ASQ Certification – CQE, CQM a plus

  • Track record of continuing education, or active professional society membership.

  • Experience work directly on LEAN Initiatives.

  • Able to discuss technical problems encountered with suppliers, customers, managers, and Aries staff.

  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills.

  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and demanding environment.

  • Experience in manufacturing environments.

  • Experience with MRP Business Management software such as SAP, Oracle, or EPICOR
