The Registered Nurse at Outer Cape Health Service (OCHS) is responsible
for providing direct patient care based on the nursing process within
assigned work periods. The incumbent functions as a member of a
multi-disciplinary team to achieve patient outcomes consistent with a
comprehensive plan of care. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Conduct intake on
walk-ins to identify need for urgent care Support providers with urgent
care procedures Implement orders for EKGs, dressing changes, suture
removal, ear lavages, splinting, injections, IV insertion, and IV
infusions. Make appropriate referrals required for the management of
patient care Obtain required patient specimens and perform or request
diagnostic laboratory tests Communicate diagnostic laboratory results to
provider Render other treatment as ordered by providers (including, but
not limited to intravenous, pulse, SpO2, etc.) Conduct routine patient
examinations according to OCHS Nursing Protocols (routine examinations
include but are not limited to blood pressure checks, allergy
injections, minor wound care, uncomplicated suture removal, etc.)
Provide the best patient experience possible; address patients concern
and questions, explain procedures, testing, and diagnosis thoroughly
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information at all times
in accordance with OCHS policies and HIPAA Maintain patient records with
the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in accordance with OCHS policies
Educate patient in the proper use of medical equipment, prescribed
regimens and other nursing care regimens Adheres to the National Patient
Safety Goals that are applicable to ambulatory care centers (including
but not limited to improving the accuracy of patient identification,
improving the safety of using medications, reducing the risk of
care-associated infections, and following the universal protocol of
preventing wrong site/wrong procedure/wrong person) Other related duties
and projects, as required or assigned in order to ensure the needs of
the Health Center and its patients are met Ability to work with a range

Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience Bachelor of Science
or Associates in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing by AACN
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Massachusetts State Board
of Registration Basic Life Support (BLS) and IV skills 1 year
professional nursing experience (ED, urgent care, or ambulatory/primary
care setting) or comparable experience Maintain and enhance professional
nursing skill and knowledge by attending continuing education programs.
