GE Aerospace Staff Engineer - Thermal Design in West Chester, Ohio

Job Description Summary

As a member of the Services Engineering Thermal Systems Design team, the Thermal Staff Engineer will help create the design and deliver solutions for the GEnx Commercial engine in service around the globe. The engineer in thermal design will demonstrate accountability for functional and business objectives. This role will the TSD focal for field investigations, delivery issues, and durability improvements. The individual will coordinate the thermal design requirements with stakeholders, evaluate turbine airfoil designs, and execute analyses to committed schedules. In addition, you will manage module impacts while meeting technical and program requirements.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Expertise in Rotor/Stator thermal design and analysis, thermal and air circuit analysis tools for engine module design, and methods and design practices.

  • Technical knowledge in thermal design who takes ownership and delivers results

  • Lead and provide key technical direction for the Services Engineering thermal design and analysis

  • Review system design for compliance with best practice and requirements and identify/recognize cross functional system design issues

  • Recommend and drive architecture and inspection maturation plans and establish system design risk and recommend abatements

  • Provides guidance for design reviews

  • Clear thinker and problem solver, is cognizant of system level interactions and utilizes robust design principles

  • Recognized as approachable, collaborative and supportive and able to work effectively across organizational boundaries

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university

  • At least 8 additional years of experience in an engineering capacity
