IDEX Supplier Quality Engineer in West Jordan, Utah

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that our suppliers consistently deliver high-quality products and services that meet our company's standards. They work closely with suppliers to establish and maintain effective quality control processes, perform audits, and drive continuous improvement in supplier performance. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in quality engineering, Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Will directly report to local quality assurance manager, and also have dotted line reporting relationship to Supply Chain Director.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Participate in quality and manufacturing audits (customers, suppliers, ISO 9000).

  • Establish and maintain effective supplier quality control processes and systems, ensuring that suppliers meet or exceed quality standards and specifications.

  • Collaborate with the purchasing and supply chain management teams to select, qualify, and evaluate suppliers based on their ability to consistently deliver high-quality products and services.

  • Conduct regular supplier audits to assess their quality management systems, manufacturing processes, and compliance with industry regulations and standards.

  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and provide feedback to suppliers on their performance, highlighting areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing best practices, process enhancements, and cost reduction opportunities (CPOQ).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, or a minimum of eight number of years’ experience. A master's degree is a plus.

  • Proven experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer or similar role, in a manufacturing or production environment.

  • Understanding and knowledge of supplier contracting theories (contract types / terms & conditions), customer flow-downs, along with purchase order release processes.

  • Strong knowledge of quality engineering principles, practices, and methodologies, such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and SPC.

  • Experience in conducting supplier audits and working with suppliers to improve their quality systems and processes.

  • Demonstrated experience with PTFE & PFAS commodities.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
