Job Summary The Mechanical Engineer will develop improvements to existing Thermal products; will work in a cross-functional development group; manage a variety of tasks and activities are required in this dynamic environment. Responsibilities: * Creates/modifies mechanical parts/assemblies/drawings in CAD systems, such as Creo and/or Solid Edge * Create and maintain Bill of Materials, released using product lifecycle management tools * Submit engineering change orders in Oracle PLM, releasing design changes including BOM and CAD documentation * Collaboration across the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, as well as production, service, quality and offering teams. Work with these teams for design reviews, meeting cost metrics, and brainstorming around customer pain points. * Handle product support questions and issues from factory, Applications Engineering, Quality, part shortages. Investigate alternate sources and submit changes to enable ongoing production and Service support. * Performs a variety of engineering calculations using traditional engineering methods to verify design requirements * Participate in identification of cost reduction opportunities and in the design and development of cost reduction changes * Implement product changes to solve field issues, support service department * Other duties as assigned Requirements: * Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or directly related degree * 3+ years of career experience in new product development as an individual contributor * Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism * Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferred CREO 4.0 and greater * Experience with sheet metal, piping and assemblies is a plus * Basic working knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, products, and safety The successful candidate will embrace Vertiv's Core Principals & Behaviors to help execute our Strategic Priorities.
