Overview
The Revenue Recognition Accountant 4 is responsible for assisting with the review and analysis of sales contracts and the identification and communication of appropriate revenue recognition criteria in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This new is instrumental in supporting the growing, global revenue function while also helping to build and maintain scalable processes
What you will be doing
Review complex contracts to determine proper revenue treatment to ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with ASC 606
Review contract obligation documentation and entries prepared by team members for acquired companies
Collaborate with revenue operations and other cross-functional teams to coordinate and resolve revenue accounting matters
Identify, lead and ensure efforts to improve existing processes and controls related to the revenue recognition cycle based upon industry trends, authoritative literature and business objectives
Draft new and update existing revenue related policies and procedures; review and recommend changes to documentation prepared by team members
Review and interpret the impact of accounting proposals and pronouncements issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF) and other financial organizations on the company's financial position and financial statements. Makes technical accounting recommendations based upon interpretation
Participate in external audits by responding to the most complex ad-hoc requests by the audtitors
Assist with the month-end close process, including account reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and review of key reports
Provide responses to complex revenue recognition related questions and training to senior management
Provide expert guidance and advice to leadership in the form of recommendations based on significant quantitative and qualitative analysis and revenue recognition rules
Lead integration and revenue recognition of acquired companies and new products
Mentor, coach and train other team members
Communicate complex and difficult issues to management in a timely manner
Comply with all corporate and departmental privacy and data security policies and practices, including but not limited to, Hyland's Information Systems Security Policy
What will make you successful
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Significant experience in public accounting or corporate accounting
Microsoft Windows and Office proficient
Experience with Workday and Salesforce and Zuora RevPro
Demonstrated ability to apply US GAAP to specific business situations
Software industry experience required
Capable of identifying and completing tasks independently with a sense of urgency and ownership
Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and be a change agent for implementing new ideas and process improvements in an increasingly complex environment
Excellent oral and written communications skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact
Excellent interpersonal skills; able to maintain solid rapport with team members as well as maintain professionalism with those outside of department
Experience providing guidance and support to developing team members
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the principal duties of the job
