Summary
We are looking for a Live Research Tech.
This role will collect accurate data and:
Maintain and adhere to strong farm biosecurity policies
Collect accurate research data
Observe and abide by Farm SOPs, Perdue PVP and Poultry Welfare programs, and general poultry husbandry
Work well in a team atmosphere
Assist with weighing birds and weighing feed, cleaning and setting up chicken houses for placement.
Hours of Work: Generally 6:00 am - 2:00 pm (with two 30 minute breaks) as scheduled by management with starting and quitting times varying according to workload and scheduling. Overtime may be scheduled as needed and directed by management.
Days of Work : Normally rotating 5 days/wk as scheduled by management and Sat., Sun., and Holidays if needed by operations and approved by management.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Collect accurate experimental data (including weighing birds and feed)
Clean and set up chicken houses for placement
Weigh feed and chicken periodically
Maintain a clean working environment
Able to work hours that rotate 5 days /week including weekends as scheduled by management and holidays if needed and approved by management
Adhere to and comply with biosecurty, poultry welfare and safety programs
And other duties as required to maintain the chicken house and birds for the duration of each research trial
Must not raise any poultry or birds
Any other reasonable request of management
Experience and Education Requirements
High school degree or equivalent preferred.
1 Years Experience or previous Industry Experience.
Reading, writing and math skills preferred.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Weigh birds and feed, move pens, work in dusty environment etc.
Work in extreme temperatures
Occasionally lift 50-75 lbs of feed, scale and /or birds
Exposure to all seasonal weather conditions. Exposure to a significant amount of airborne dust, feathers, manure. and humidity up to 100%. Various chemicals, vaccines, and drugs, to be covered in MSDS and hazardous communications training. Most frequently would be disinfectant and bleach. To move through mud, manure, dirt, grass, metal grading, concrete floors (wet or dry) with a significant amount of bending, twisting, stooping and lifting (up to 75 pounds) 4 miles daily.
