Performs general maintenance and repair duties on County infrastructure.
Participates in snow/ice removal procedures and right of way mowing.
Repair asphalt, gravel, and concrete surfaced roads
- Assist with installation, repair, and maintenance of culverts
- Complete general maintenance work in grading, patching, and
maintaining improved & unimproved roads
- Assist with applying cold patch or hot mix asphalt to fix potholes
- Complete maintenance, repair, and replacement of work zone and basic
roadway signage
- Fill cracks in road surface
- Work as flagman during road construction projects
- Wear PPE and follow local, state, and federal safety regulations
Operate light and medium weight equipment for road construction work
- Operate a wheeled tractor with attachments for mowing and other
projects along County right of way
- Operate a dump truck for hauling material
- Assist with loading and unloading material and equipment
- Conduct basic preventative maintenance on vehicles & equipment
- Perform manual work associated with equipment operations
Participate in snow and ice removal operations
- Operate a dump truck with blade and spreader to clear roads of snow
and ice
- Operate loader to load material for snow & ice removal
- Ride as passenger with other operators to assist with snow & ice
removal
- Maintain equipment in good condition
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, fueled, and loaded for follow on shift
- Report problems immediately to shift supervisor
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent; Per Sedgwick
County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US
drivers license without restrictions and current proof of automobile
insurance.; Must have or obtain valid Kansas Commercial Drivers License
Class B w/air brakes & tanker endorsements within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications: Kansas Commercial Drivers License Class B
w/air brakes & tanker endorsements.
