Position Description
As a valuable member of our team as an ironworker, youll complete a wide
range of tasks as directed by your foreman. Some of these tasks include
cutting, rigging, hoisting, connecting, aligning, bolt-up, welding and
bracing structural steel members.
Position Requirements Essential Functions:
- Reliable and punctual attendance
- Determine quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing
rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions
- Hoist steel beams, girders, or columns
- Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces using metal shears, torches, or
welding equipment
- Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting
- Cut rods to required lengths using metal shears, hacksaws, bar
cutters, or torches
- Cut and fit wire mesh or fabric, using hooked rods, and position
fabric or mesh in concrete to reinforce concrete
Requirements:
To succeed as an ironworker, an individual must be able to take
direction and work with others as a team; follow company safety policies
and participate in safety training programs; and demonstrate the ability
to maintain and operate tools and equipment such as arc and wire-feed
welders, grinders, quickie saw, rebar shear, porta-band saw, cutting
torch, chain falls, torque wrench, TC Impact gun, Hogan drill and hammer
drills.
Working Conditions:
- Standing and walking for long periods
- Lifting in excess of 40 lbs
- Working inside and outside in all weather and temperature conditions
- Varying noise levels that require ear protection
- Working in cramped quarters
- Frequently exposed to high places
