Construction Shop Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Shop Operations:

Oversee and manage the daily operations of the construction shop,

ensuring smooth workflow and efficient resource utilization.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to

safety regulations and procedures.

Manage inventory of materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring

adequate stock levels and timely replenishment.

Coordinate with field personnel to ensure timely delivery of

materials and equipment to job sites.

Staff Management:

Supervise and train shop staff, laborers, and other support

personnel.

Evaluate employee performance, provide feedback, and address any

issues or concerns.

Recruit and hire new employees as needed, ensuring a skilled and

competent workforce.

Resource Management:

Manage budgets for shop operations, including materials, labor, and

equipment maintenance.

Track and monitor project costs, identifying potential cost overruns

and implementing corrective actions.

Maintain and repair shop equipment and tools, ensuring they are in

good working order.

Vendor and Contractor Relations:

Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors,

ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.

Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors and contractors,

securing favorable terms.

Address any issues or concerns with vendors or contractors in a

timely and professional manner.

Safety Compliance:

Ensure that all shop operations comply with safety regulations and

procedures.

Conduct regular safety inspections and address any safety hazards

promptly.

Provide safety training to shop staff, ensuring they are aware of

potential hazards and safety procedures.

Other Duties:

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Assist with project planning and scheduling, as needed.

Provide technical support to field personnel, as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

Strong leadership and management skills.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment.

Experience in managing a construction shop or similar environment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures including electrical,

mechanical and welding

Proficiency in relevant software, such as project management software

and inventory management systems.
