Overview / Job Summary:\
The Student Accessibility and Support Services (SASS) Specialist will
assist and support the Assistant Director of SASS in providing students
with reasonable accommodation and carrying out general operations of the
department. The SASS Specialist will assist students in navigating the
accommodations request process, assist with document management within
the department and college, and provide overall support of students
requesting services and accommodations.\

Your day-to-dayresponsibilitieswill vary, but are not limited to:\
- Assist current and potential students with navigating the
accommodations request process, directing students to required forms
on the website, providing basic information on eligibility
requirements, reasonable accommodations, and scheduling appointments
with Student Accessibility and Support Services staff.
- Assist with student appointments to review accommodation requests
and plans as needed.
- Serve as a Representative of the WSU Tech Student Accessibility and
Support Services department at high school resource/transition fairs
and community outreach events.
- Assist with data collection, storage and maintenance using college
software systems available (Banner, Slate, Navigate and Maxient)
- Gain an understanding of ADA and disability law as it applies to WSU
Tech and postsecondary education.
- Assist students with Assistive Technology needs includes working
with eligible students to set up software on their device, providing
overview of features and how to use, tracking devices loaned out
through the department and software subscription assignments.
- Assist as needed with exam accommodations and arranging auxiliary
aids and services.
The Student Accessibility and Support Services department at WSU Tech

Education:
- Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and related
experiencerequired, Bachelors Degree in psychology, education,
rehabilitation counseling or a related fieldpreferred.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
- Willingness to learn Student Services software, such as Banner,
Navigate, and Slate.
- Self-starter with effective time management skills, including the
ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet
project deadlines.
- Professional-level critical thinking skills, including ability to
read and process detailed information, ability to think
open-mindedly within alternative systems of thought, recognizing and
assessing, as need be, assumptions, implications, and practical
consequences.
- High ethical standards and an appropriate professional image are
required.
- Strong written and verbal skillsrequired, with the ability to
communicate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and
experiences.
- User-level knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel are required,
knowledge of SharePointpreferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or
without accommodation.
- Independent travel by car and/or public transportation is required
to enable flexibility to work at alternate WSU Tech locations when
needed. If driving a personal vehicle for college business, a valid
drivers license and current auto insurance is required.
