CallingMedical Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologistwho enjoys variety
in hospital practice environment and willing to grow in their career
with a rural critical access hospital.
Summary:
- Under the direction of the department manager,Ultrasound
Technologist/DiagnosticMedical Sonographer (DMS) shall perform
interpretive diagnostic studies as ordered by the referring
physician/provider.
- Technologist shall exhibit quality patient care, and utilize patient
and staff safety measures when choosing technical factors to insure
proper sonographic diagnosis of patients.
Shift Schedule:
- Thursday - Saturday (7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.)
This position is an essential worker which requires a commitment to
teamwork, collaboration and department scheduling needs i.e. good
attendance, attitude, customer services, communication skills, etc.,
Supervision Received:
- Works under the direct supervision of the Radiology Manager or
designated administrator. Exercises progressive levels of autonomy
in day-to-day activities based on satisfactory job performance.
Special Conditions:
- Subject to on call and call back after hours and weekends and during
emergency conditions.
- Position is Safety Sensitive / Drug Free Workplace / Vaccination
Requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Provides safe and appropriate patient care while performing
diagnostic studies ordered by the patients physician/provider.
- Assists radiologist with full patient history and proper tools for
exams.
- Completes all exams fully -- including paperwork and billing
procedures.
- Confirms and compares correct patient exam information to minimize
discrepancies.
- Maintains clean, organized, and properly stocked exam rooms.
- Captures clear diagnostic images of patients by using proper
equipment, techniques, and positions.
- Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of
disease processes to properly and safely position the patient for
maximum diagnostic yield.
- Utilizes knowledge of all safety measures for protection of patients
and staff while administering ultrasound.
- Performs in other modalities as certified.
Education and/or Experience:
- Associate degree from accredited school of Sonography or certificate
from accredited technical school of Sonography or Radiography
required.
- 1 year experience working in ultrasound in a hospital setting
preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current ARDMS certification in physics and abdomen or ARRT certified
in ultrasound required.
- ARDMS or ARRT certification in the following is preferred: vascular,
ECHO, OB/GYN, and breast imaging.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of HIPAA privacy requirements and medical terminology.
- Establish and maintain solid working relationships through
communication, cooperation, and positive interactions with all
patients/clients, employees, staff, providers, and vendors.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule when circumstances
necessitate.
- Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently with
limited supervision.
- Strong customer service skills along with excellent written and
verbal communication skills.
- Positive communication skills; ability to successfully interact with
all customers; continuous demonstration of courteous, cooperative
and service orientated behavior.
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety, quality and positive
patient experience.
