The primary function is to perform dimensional inspection on any valve
or component part as required by management.
Job Requirements:
Two years of on-the-job experience in mechanical inspection.
A high school diploma or GED.
The ability to pass a test based on sample portions of the American
Society of Quality (ASQ) CQI (Certified Quality Inspector) Body of
Knowledge such as but not limited to.
- Technical mathematics such as shop math, algebra, geometry, and
trigonometry and metric conversion
- Common gauges and measurement instruments
- Surface plate tools and techniques
- Blueprint reading, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Sampling plans
- Basic statistics, SPC, and common problem-solving tools
- Basic CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation such as Faro Arm
or equivalent.
- Inspection of threads over wires
Description of work:
- This work includes, but is not limited, to dimensional acceptance of
valves and component piece parts, inspection of threads over wires
and the calculations that go with this inspection, first piece
inspections, pre-operation and set up approvals, and other tasks as
assigned by management.
- The Dimensional B will be required to perform other inspection
operations such as PMI, welding inspection, assembly inspections as
well as some calibration functions.
- Working from Production Orders, Quality Control Instructions and
other quality and engineering documents the inspector will verify
that all QC and QA requirements are met, and maintain logs, complete
inspection reports, and rejection reports, as necessary.
