AAA Mid Atlantic Accounts Payable Supervisor in Wilmington, United States

AAA is hiring for an Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our team! The Supervisor will be responsible for activities and operations in the Accounts Payable function for the Organization. In partnership with the Accounts Payable Manager, this individual provides direction to staff and is expected to uphold a culture that encourages continuous improvement and professional development. The Accounts Payable Supervisor will regularly coach and develop their staff to assure a team-based and collaborative environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Supervises Accounts Payable staff to enhance their performance, development and work product. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions

  • Benchmarks and assesses the efficiency and effectiveness of the current process to streamline workflow while also performing re-design and flow-charting; develop, implement, and communicate process improvements and enhancements to internal controls.

  • Performs disbursement runs ensuring payment method is most cost efficient; analyze and verify outstanding invoices to ensure proper payment and ensure compliance with internal, external stakeholders, and regulatory entities.

  • Analyzes invoices and expense reports for accuracy and eligibility for payment. Ensures timely payments of vendor invoices and expense reports and maintains accurate financial records and control reports.

  • Creates and enforces policies for corporate adherence to expense reimbursement, corporate card compliance and invoice payment processing.

  • Ensures all financial deadlines regarding accounts payable are met for month-end and year-end financial closings, including supporting requests from internal and external audit functions.

  • Ensures key performance metrics are gathered, reported, and escalated timely in a customer focused manner that supports a highly successful control environment.

  • Delegates tasks across the A/P team and ensures clearly communicates expectations so that the team achieves a quality outcome, including determining deadlines and recognizing and adjusting based on over or under-achievement.

  • Leads enterprise 1099 filings utilizing multiple platforms for various legal entities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Finance or Accounting; Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in an automated financial environment

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Working knowledge of fundamentals of accounting.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with Workday preferred, or other ERP a plus.

  • Ability to learn quickly and work flexibly in a fast-paced team context is necessary.

  • Ability to successfully plan, develop, and execute projects to meet mission critical corporate objectives.

  • Ability to effectively interpret, select appropriate techniques, take independent action, communicate and follow-through.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a high sense of urgency environment
