Hiring Range: $29.67 - $32.64 per hour, depending on
experience/qualifications.
Work Schedule: Generally, 40 or more hours per week - typically 7:00
am-3:30 pm Monday-Friday, with some evenings, weekends, and holiday
events as needed. On-call scheduling will occur as required.
The Fleet Mechanic (III) is required to perform work in a manner
consistent with and exemplary of the town's PRIDE philosophies and the

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Fleet Mechanic III works under the direct supervision of the Fleet Manager
to carry out assigned duties, functions, roles, and projects while
working in the office and shop, for both routine and complex circumstances.
SUPERVISION/LEADERSHIP EXERCISED
No supervisory responsibilities or control exercised.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The Fleet Mechanic III is assigned specific tasks,
job duties, scope, authority, responsibility, roles and requirements
as determined by the Town, department, division, and pursuant to laws,
regulation and practices. Incumbents in this position must be able to
successfully perform, be responsible for, and/or assist in the
fulfillment of many job functions and duties, with or without reasonable
accommodation.The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of
the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all
inclusive
Performs maintenance and journey level mechanical repairs on all town Fleet
units consisting of light duty trucks and automobiles, heavy duty trucks and
equipment, turf and agricultural equipment, and small engine equipment in
a timely manner. These include but are not limited to dump trucks,
tractors, backhoes, street sweepers, sewer equipment, pickups,
trailers, forklift, passenger vehicles, police vehicles, as well as
electric vehicles. Repairs may be performed in the shop environment or in the
Performs Department of Transportation inspections on all commercial vehicles
as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration standards.
Assists manager in assigning and monitors preventive maintenance and repair
work to other mechanics in accordance with a regular schedule, aids
technicians with vehicle repair problems, and coordinates additional sublet
repairs as needed.
Properly diagnoses, vehicle and equipment mechanical defects and determines
proper solutions.
Repairs/rebuilds broken, worn, defective, inefficient, or unsafe
vehicle and equipment components including braking, suspension,
hydraulic, electrical, fuel, heating/cooling, and engine systems
using approved ASE methods and practices.
Works with Fleet Manager to design OEM and aftermarket upfitting solutions to
provide utilization options for customers.
Installs OEM and aftermarket accessories into new and existing vehicles as
directed by Fleet Manager.
Use of fabrication skills as needed to achieve necessary repairs and
modifications in areas of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic,
metalwork, and other areas of vehicle and equipment operations.
Performs pre-and post-trip inspections, preventative maintenance checks and
minor repairs on division's equipment and other town vehicles to ensure they
operate properly.
Safely drive and operate equipment Town of Windsor vehicles and equipment for
preventative maintenance services.
Lubricate moving parts, refills fluids, and replaces belts, hoses,
wiper blades, and tires.
Complies with the proper storage, use, and disposal of hazardous fuels,
oils, lubricants, and cleaners.
Assists manager in coordinating Fleet operations activities with Town staff
such as field staff, division supervisors/managers, PD Lieutenants,
Commanders, etc., along with outside vendors, contractors, and local
agencies as required.
Assists manager in making specifications before ordering and overseeing the
purchasing and inventory of fuel management (gasoline, DEF, and diesel
fuel supply), and lubricant systems, along with leet parts storeroom.
Assists manager in monitoring and maintaining the Town's wash bay and
electric vehicle charging stations.
Assists manager in disposing of older Fleet units and ordering and acquiring
new vehicles and equipment per Town specs for Capital fleet additions and
replacements.
Assists manager with administrative tasks associated with ordering,
selling, and sending vehicles out for wide array of preventative maintenance
(PM's) services to complex maintenance.
Assists manager with all necessary practices that are followed when it comes
to fleet vehicle registration within Weld County.
Documents all services performed, as well as recording any parts and
supplies ordered/used in accordance with established record-keeping
procedures.
Performs snow operation tasks by shoveling, plowing, removing, and
hauling snow and ice, along with applying deicers to streets and roads.
Clean equipment and Public Services Facility shops and yard areas as
necessary.
Performs related duties as established by law/ordinance or reasonably
directed by the town.
Responds to emergencies or after-hours call-outs as needed.
Performs a variety of heavy laboring activities including the use of hand
tools, light power equipment, and heavy construction and maintenance
equipment.
Inputs daily work data into a computer and maintains records of work
performed.
Perform and foster an environment of safe work practices and report safety
issues promptly to the direct supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
